I don’t think you release him now.
Either he comes back in 2024, or you put him on the restricted list and don’t pay him.

Fletcher at least has hit well at SLC….Walsh is at .200….just doesn’t look like he’ll find his stroke again…

Like when John Candy finished the old 96'r steak in the Great Outdoors, but then the chef pointed out the gristle and fat.

Sandoval's ERA is up over a run from last season. Detmers' ERA is up over a run from last season. Anderson's is up over 3 runs from last season. Suarez was absolutely horrible except for one start. Nobody except maybe Anderson's family thought he was going to be anywhere near as good as he was last year, but I think most people thought he could be around the 4.00 mark. Sandoval and Detmers regressed badly this season. I did not expect that at all. I've never liked Suarez, but I thought he could be a decent number 6 starter and stay around a 4.00 ERA also.
As of today, starters and relievers ERA's are identical at 4.68 this season. Starters have gone from 6th best last season at 3.67 to 22nd. Relievers have gone from 18th best at 3.95 to 23rd.

The last time we could dream of watching the Angels in October was in late September 2015 when they were 2 games back with 5 to go. Of course, they went 2-3 though. That included blowing a 5-3 lead at home to the A's who had the worst record in the American League that year.

Evidently this worked out very well.   Too well as far a MLB is concerned.
IMO MLB should prorate the Luxury tax salaries for Games played by players in the IL over 50% of the games

Speaking of the Indians, did anybody else notice that our old buddy Kole hit a 3 run game winning home run yesterday? He's also got an OPS  of .811 and has driven in 15 runs in 20 games since being called up on August 5.

50 would be a pretty big historical milestone for him. First Japanese born player to hit 50 and first Angels' player to hit 50.
Of course, he hasn't hit a home run since he left the first game of that double header. He's hit some absolute rockets, but he didn't get them up in the air.

According to the salaries on Sportac, and multiplying them by the percent of days remaining, the Halos should now be about $130k under the tax threshold.

Of course, the 1995 team was playing great until the middle of August and then completely collapsed.
64-38 on August 15 with a 10.5 game lead in the AL West.
8-27 in their next 35. I don't know if that's the worst 35 game stretch in club history, but it's got to be right there.

    Predict two losses in Oakland.
This team has no pitching this month, outside of Ohtani/Silseth.
Even Lopez and Moore are crapping the couch lately.
