  1. At game 33, the 2002 team was 17-16 and in the middle of their second 8 game winning streak since starting 6-14. Game 34 was a 19-0 rout of the White Sox which was the first game of a three game sweep. Comparing this team to the 2002 team is like comparing Hamilton's paycheck to mine.
  2. Hitting with RISP from innings 7 through 9 in close games has been like pulling teeth since 2010. I wish I knew who these imposters are with Pujols and Hamilton on their jerseys are because I've never seen them before. Maybe they got the idea from Saddam Hussein to get looklalikes. Maybe the real Pujols and Hamilton are on a beach somewhere with their millions laughing their asses off. Lets get Maury to do a DNA test NOW!!!
  3. 4-13!!! Yes, worse than even the Astros (4-12) & Marlins (5-14). Good news is if we win tomorrow, we're ahead of the Astros by pct. points!!!
  4. Sorry, but this isn't 2012 and there's no once in a generation talent to call up and there's no surplus at AAA to trade for help. Like Bobby Knight once said of rape, if it's inevitable, relax and enjoy it.
  5. Tell the Lakers pre-season doesn't matter. Of course, when their owner and general manager saw a disaster in the making, they fired the coach after 5 games.
  6. All I can think of Charles Barkley "Bad team man. Bad F'n team." I wish I could get Lasorda's opinion of the Angels' performance. I"Bad team man. Bad f***ing team."
  7. Good thing MLB doesn't allow teams to trade draft picks.
  8. That's Howie "GIDP" Kendrick to you.
  9. 11 series played 2 Wins 9 Losses I can honestly say that I've started to look at the top prospects for the June 2014 draft.
  10. Verducci's article yesterday points out how over the last four seasons, free agency has become a "sucker's bet". Only 3 of the last 24 free agents signed the last four years have "earned" their contract. Of the 24, I would say only Beltre was a no-brainer that his team would do it again. Let's wait and see on Fielder. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20130507/free-agents-josh-hamilton-bj-upton/index.html Until the owner and GM of the team understands this, I think this isn't going to change.
  11. Does anyone remember the specific reason Stoneman was fired...err. I mean moved upstairs and not replaced with an experienced, proven replacement? What it the fact that everyone in the universe knew GMJ was using PED's during his contract year in Texas? Was it the fact that he had trouble landing (or was unwilling to land) players who wanted mega free agent deals? Was it that he was unwilling to overpay in terms of prospects in trade deadline deals? Was it that Scioscia wanted a 10 year deal, wanted control over the 25 man roster and a GM who would answer to him? Well, Arte, you've now got a guy who can close the free agent mega deals and has been willing to trade pretty much any prospect in the organization without the initials of M.T. Oh, and you've also got a guy signed to the worst managerial contract in MLB history. Glad it's not my money.
  12. Actually, playing good baseball hasn't seemed to matter to the 2002 bandwaggoners still going to the games the past few years. I can still remember going to a couple of late August 2002 home games against Tampa Bay with less than 20,000 paid admission (definitely not that many in attendance) and the club was about 25 games over .500. As long as Arte can still sell 3,000,000 tickets per season putting an overpaid and underachieving team on the field, why change?
  13. ...my jaw hits the floor every time I wake up, check the sports news, and find out Butcher hasn't been fired.
  14. Makes me think of The Bad News Bears: Tanner "We lost eighteen to nothin', Buttercrud, and the Athletics are the worst team in the league!" Ahmad "Second Worst." Tanner "Sorry, I forgot."
  15. I got the perfect guy. Tony Phillips!!! Who understands working a count better than that guy and he played practically every position on the field. Hiring a former crack head has worked wonders in Texas so get it done Jerry!!!
  16. Never thought I'd say this but God I miss Stoneman!!!
  17. It seems to the apologists that the 2002-2009 stretch happened because of Scioscia's great managing, but during the 2010-present stretch all he does is make out the lineup card. I guess when the team wins, it's because of Scioscia. When they lose, it's the players..
  18. Since it usually requires a forklift, or 4 contestants from the World Strongest Man competition to move him, I would assume he works out of his bedroom.
  19. So far this season, yes. However, I'll put my money on the other half of "TnT" over the duration.
  20. Yeah, we definitely don't want a manager who won a World Series. That would suck. However, you got to admit, the post game interview would be much better than "tip the cap" and "turn the page".
  21. Baylor as manager with Erstad as bench coach / baserunning coach and manager in training with Percival as pitching coach. There would be a massive change in the attitude of the ballclub. Whether that would be a positive or negative change. Seriously, it couldn't get any worse than it is now.
  22. The only veteran leader and clutch hitter from 2012 wasn't even given a qualifying offer. I think Trumbo and Trout will eventually take those roles but it may take until some of the extremely high-priced veterans are "Moo Vaughned" out of town.
  23. If that happens, it means the entire 25-man roster has given up.
