  1. He's been going on and on all afternoon about how this team is unmotivated, doesn't play hard and should be embarrased by their lack of effort. In fact, the coach should be let go. Of course, he's not talking about the team owned by the guy who signs his paycheck, he's talking about the Lakers. Let me try to follow Lodge's "logic". The Lakers recovering from a historically bad start, not having a healthy Gasol or Nash all year, and losing their best player two games before the start of the playoffs is the coach's fault. However, by Lodge's "logic", the Angels underachieving for 3+ seasons is not the coach's fault. He had Richard Justice on after one of Lakers' rants. The word "ridiculous" was used when talking about fans who call the show and want Scioscia replaced because, according to them, all Scioscia does is make out the daily lineup card. He has no effect on how the team performs on the field. Since motivating your team to play at a high level is only a requirement in the NBA and not MLB, let me be the first of thousands of Angels' fans to volunteer, at no cost to Mr. Moreno, to make out the daily lineup card.
  2. Just realized this is a craig. Sorry

  4. Good series to miss. 4 games series without ONE hit with a runner in scoring position!!! Wonder if that has ever happened in the history of MLB.
  5. I wake up every day hoping to see Sosh blubbering like Terry Collins did and realize he cannot motivate this team, but it will never happen because Collins actually cared.
  6. This team is and has been way to comfortable for a few years now. Sosh was the starting catcher and supposedly one of team leaders on a team that was the same way in the mid-80's. They brought in a player that right off the bat in spring training let everyone know that wasn't acceptable and they won a World Series. There is nobody on the field or in the dugout who will call everyone out and let them know this is not acceptable and since no one on the field seems to want that role it is the manager's responsibility. If he can't or won't do it, the find someone who will.
  7. Sorry, I needed something to line the litter box.
  8. "I like to think of Jesus like with giant eagles wings, and singin' lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an angel band and I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk!"
  9. Seems like we dominate King Felix and then get shut out by the next recently called up soft-tossing lefty every time.
  10. Well, going by the logic of most of the Scioscia supporters on this board, he must be a good owner because his team won a World Series.
  11. I don't know if Arte would ever fire him so my only hope is that he has a Terry Collins moment.
  12. Since there are very few GMs left who aren't ivy league graduates and actually played at the major league level, I would think Dipoto would understand the importance of having a good pitching coach and a manager that knows how to manage a bullpen. When he was hired, I was hoping one of the crony media would ask the question of whether he would need Arte's permission to replace anyone in the organization including the team's manager.
  13. Fan since '78 who got tired of watching uninspired baseball a few years ago. I used to attend 5 to 10 games a year driving from the IE. The last game I attended was Trout's debut. Took a lot of photos and figured it would be something I could tell my grandchildren about. Had to take the wife out to do some grocery shopping tonight and had the radio on as we made a few stops. Got out of the car and the score was 0-2. Now, 5 or 6 years ago, I would have rushed in to turn on the game knowing that even though it was a road game, there was still a very good chance of a late inning rally. I didn't even bother to turn the TV on knowing that for 3+ seasons now, there is absolutely no chance that this team can mount any sort of rally when they are behind after the 6th inning. About 10:30 went online to see how my fantasy league players did today and saw the inevitable results.
  14. The other pitcher's game plan seems to be. Throw a first pitch fastball right down the middle of the plate which will usually get fouled back for strike one or grounded into a double play if there's a man on first. After that throw nothing but junk out the strike zone and they'll get themselves out.
  15. All I heard from Jerry and others in the organization for 6 months was how important it was that this team get off to a good start. Okay, now the primary focus of the off-season has not been accomplished. Is anyone going to be held accountable? anyone? anyone? Bueller?
  16. Trout's GIDP rate is three times what it was last season with one of the fastest guys in the league holding at first.
  17. Can't wait until Koufax,,,err,,,I mean Kazmir starts against us.
  18. Is his hand getting tired from turning pages?
  19. Love the hustle and determination, but if he had injured himself, it would have been the teams' stupidest injury since Kendry's jump.
  20. I hope Shields got a cut of Sosh's 10-year extension because he earned it.
  21. Last years' team was probably the least injured Halo squad I've ever seen (going back to '78) and couldn't get it done. They're due for injuries this year. Last time I looked, the Rangers opening day starter is on the DL. Feliz would be at least their #3 if healthy - gone. They lost what was supposed to be their best hitter and starting pitcher to free agency the last two years and are still way better than the Angels and have a loaded farm system.
  22. Is it that hard to draft and develop relievers? Seems like other teams can do it because every year the Angels are either shelling out multi-year deals to other teams' relievers or acquiring them off the waiver wire, minor league free agency or rule 5 draft. K-Rod and Shields both came up in 2002. Since then I can't think of anyone drafted and developed by the organization who could consistently throw strike one and hold leads. Arredondo looked like he might be one, but he got released because nobody comes back from Tommy John surgery anymore. Maybe no other organization has developed even one consistent relief pitcher in 11 years but I doubt it.
  23. Great hit! But, I'd still like to see him do that once in a while late in a tight game.
