  1. While I've wanted the guy gone for a few years now, I have no doubt that he will comeback and be an excellent manager elsewhere. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he takes a year off, does the ESPN thing, gets the hunger (no buffet jokes here) back and wins another World Series elsewhere. It's just not going to happen here.
  2. I was checking to see if this topic started in 2010, 2011 or 2012.
  3. Already happened last year. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/26/torii-hunter-called-out-manager-mike-scioscia-after-loss/
  4. 10 series played so far. Win 2 Lose 8 Hey! If we can get 2 out of 3 against the 8-24 Astros we can get that winning pct. up to .222!!!
  5. Wow! A shot at Fox News! Never seen one of those before. How original. Must have spent all morning coming up with that one.
  6. I was thinking about this the other day. Take your being an Angels' fan and your favorite few players out of it. If you could trade the Angels entire major and minor league rosters including payrolls with any other team in the AL West. Is there any team you wouldn't do it with? The Rangers are a no doubter and there are arguments for and against the other teams but the Angels have an inflexible roster and payroll situation and if they don't have the worst minor league system, I'd like to know who does. I'm starting to wonder if this franchise is heading towards the Yankees of the late 80's who were full of aging stars and bloated payrolls but finished no better than 4th 6 years in a row.
  7. One year ago today made his first appearance as an Angel. How far below .500 would this team have been without him last year? How many games ahead in the race for the #1 pick would they be without him this year? Since his first appearance: Team 90-75 ERA 2.26 SV 27 IP 67.2 H 33 K 98 Good thing he was available to pitch the 10th today after striking out the side in the 9th and that double play Kendrick turned in the top of the 10th.
  8. Can't really hope for a turn around like last year. Around this time last year, the Angels gained a player who had one of the all-time great WAR years and a reliever who didn't give up a run for 2 1/2 months.
  9. Everbody brings up the 2002 team starting 6-14. However, they went on an 8 game winning streak to get to 14-14. Last years' team started 18-25 and put together an 8 game winning streak to get to 26-25. I'd like to see this team at least put an 8-2 stretch together, or get back to .500 before I get too excited.
  10. Maybe signing a closer who's healthy and expected to be available opening day would be a good idea.
  11. Without Weave, I don't know if this team finishes above .500 the last two seasons. Team was 45-18 in his starts with a lot of those 18 losses being blown saves.. He has been the definition of an ace and a class act. If he does not come back soon and come back healthy this is going to a long long summer.
  12. Can't wait to see how many empty seats there are at those mid-May home games against the Royals. I think we might give the Marlins a run for their money especially without all the 99 cent tickets on stubhub.
  13. Maybe, with experience, he got better at his job. It does happen. I don't think Joe Torre's going to the Hall of Fame for being fired by the Mets and Braves and I highly doubt Tony LaRussa is going to the Hall of Fame because he was fired by the White Sox.
  14. I now know that if I die and go to hell where I'm going to end up. I'm going to be stuck in a room for eternity with three people. A Sciosica apologist, a Bush apologist and an Obama apologist.
  15. The manager is not responsible for the win loss record of a team? So if I took Bruce Bochy off the Giants the last 3 years and replaced him with, any other manager in baseball, they would still have two World Series rings? Since managers have such little effect on the team, why did ours get a 10 year $50,000,000 contract?
  16. Injuries run in cycles, they were definitely not the issue last year. Probably the healthiest year this team has had since I began following them in '78.
  17. I don't know if it's the environment here. I don't know if it's the coaching and preparation. What I do know is it seems for the past few years a majority of the players the Angels have brought in have not performed as well here as they did in their previous organization. On the other hand, a majority of the players who have left here have performed better when they have left. Scouts have been held responsible, coaches have been held responsible, general managers have been held responsible, players have been held responsible. Hell, I think even the trainer and clubhouse guy were held responsible. To me, there's only three guys left from the downfall of the glory years of 2002-2009 who have a major impact on the team. So who is it? Arte? Scioscia? Butcher? Where does the buck stop?
  18. All I know is if I could get odds on whether this team will be 10 or more games out at some point in May, I'd bet everything I own.
  19. Guess we won't be watching him play LF for awhile.
  20. When I said the Wells trade would haunt this franchise for a decade, I didn't mean literally!
  21. I don't know how many 9th inning come from behind home wins the A's have had since the All-Star break but it wouldn't surprise me if it's more than the Angels have had since 2010.
  22. No, but I know a place down the freeway that would take our albatross manager.
  23. I would literally laugh ALL the way to the bank!
