looking at her through my teachers' eyes, i imagine she's probably the last parent to leave the drop-off area every morning, and that parent conferences with her would involve me doing most of the listening while she babbles non-stop for twenty minutes, never really giving me a chance to share my observations with her about peyts.

I think we've all experienced being overwhelmed by large numbers of blosox fans at the Big A, but I don't like the idea of the team making a policy. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I don't think this should be the way teams go.

yep. saw the article in the LA Times as well with some of the same quotes.

Different strategies for Dodgers F/O and Halos --

Dodgers put limit on season tickets (30,000) and aggressively sell them to corporate sponsors AND to ticket broker outfits which assure that most ALL tickets are sold.

Angels do not sell their season tickets to ticket brokers and re-dissemination by them and that had some impact on the attendance drop.

I think a major reason for the Angels attendance drop (and not just on the field performance - after all they won 98 games last season and had the best regular season record in MLB) has to do with the change in policy on making fan re-sale of season tickets less fan friendly...........the Angels have Ticketmaster on some exclusive deal for re-sale and have limited the fans' ability to re-sell tickets. One, by not allowing instant bar graph code ticket availability for ticket broker vendors OTHER than Ticketmaster AND by delaying ticket delivery to fans until shortly before the event.

This makes the whole re-sale process less user-friendly and more of a hassle.

I used to buy a mini-season ticket package (with the variations of the packages over the years -- I really did not like last year's (or was it the year before?) version of it where you had to pick among about 12 packages of PRE-SELECTED (by the Halos) games........I bought type package ONCE and never again.  I liked the 'pick your own' 20 games package -- and, of course, the pre-'VALUE'  games pricing policies of weekend games and Yankees, Red Sox and Dodger games all being more expensive.

back when there was little to no restriction on re-sale policies --- you could buy a mini-season (or even half to full season package) and pretty much pay for a good portion or all of it by re-selling the Boston, Yankees and Dodger games on Stub Hub -- once they cracked down on that --  some folks (like me) simply stopped buying tickets...........

if that's what the Halos want, fine..........I now go to Stub Hub if I want to go to a game and, as a result, I buy fewer tickets and attend fewer games.

Another factor is this -- in looking at the Angels' schedule this year -- it seemed like they played Houston (who it now turns out is leading the league -- but who knew?) about three of the weekends during the initial months of the season and other match ups were not much better -- I scoured the schedule trying to pick out the game or two or series I wanted to attend and couldn't find any.

As a result -- it appears that for the first time in about two decades -- I will not be attending even ONE game in Anaheim this year.

I will be seeing Washington v. SF and St. Louis vs. SF up at AT&T instead (with great seats that I was able to obtain in a convenient user-friendly way from vendor/ brokers).

Sorry I should've said I still expect them to be a playoff team just not a cup contender.  However, you are right, if they have Kane, Towes, and Keith, until proven otherwise they are a contender.   I think next years final four in the West is Ducks vs. Kings and Blues vs. Preds barring offseason moves.  Kings are going to be well rested and very motivated next year after missing the playoffs so I am definitely worried about them.

Only way I would've gone there is if I was guaranteed a bj by the song girl of my choice morning, noon, and night everyday.

Last time I was on (or near, not sure if Galen is considered on campus or not) USC campus was for the SDSU vs USC bball game (wife went to SDSU).  I was hungover as **** having just gotten home from Vegas and game was Sunday night.  Saw courtside tix available on stubhub for $50 each, couldn't pass that up.  Seats were infront of their student section.  They sure didn't take kindly to me in my SDSU jersey and UCLA hat.

More blackout idiocy. Earlier this week, on the network supposedly created to promote the sport, two separate games were broadcast. Both were blacked out in my area, one involving the Giants and one involving the Padres. I couldn't watch any programs on the network for nearly four hours.
And people wonder why the sport is losing fans.

And remember, though Peyts has many social issues (still never been invited to a birthday party), her older son seems more well-adjusted.

i see it as abusive from the standpoint that he thinks he needs a rather expensive private jet as opposed to utilizing the vast network of airlines around the country/world. this is an expense that is excessive. imagine how much good he could do with his local congregation or community with that amount of money.

So after all these years of inspirational messages, inspiration posts, and talking about doing the right things - Peyt's mom still can't figure it out....Go figure

Early morning walk...good for my soul and stiff neck! Work has been rough the past couple of weeks. Life has been rough. Haven't been taking care of myself like I should. My neck has been hurting so much that I don't feel up to getting out to walk or yoga, but then that just makes it worse. It's amazing how good it feels to get out for a simple walk. Get your blood flowing, your feet hitting the dirt trail, breathing the fresh morning air and hearing the birds chirping. I'm missing hanging with my best friend, have felt misunderstood in social situations lately (even when I've tried to explain myself), feeling left out of other social situations. Exercise, whatever type you choose helps to clear your mind and see that any hardship you go through is just a transition and will pass. Better things will be on the other side...this will be a growth period and I will be grateful! Just need to keep on walking and moving my body, staying present in the NOW! It's all we've got! Peace!

So Shakin pretty much stole my thread and wrote an article about it, nice.  One thing not mentioned in the article is that Dodgers season tickets are cheaper in almost every comparable level to that of Angels seasons.  The Dodgers also do not care how many of their tickets end up in the secondary market (thats what Alvarado meant when he said â€œThey’ve got a significantly larger wholesale business than we do,” Alvarado said. “We choose not to go that model.”)  whereas the Angels stopped selling more seats to known resellers early in the offseason.  Basically the Angels are trying their best to control their ticketing market whereas the Dodgers are letting the free market take hold on their seats.  This is evident by the around 15K tickets on stubhub for Dodgers games compared to the 2500 or so on stubhub for Angels games.
