  1. I miss America. We have lost so much in little time. However, It's our fault for getting lied to so many times, only to come back for more without asking the right questions and remaining in denial.
  2. I only started to think of it when I realized those generations post-baby boomers were x-y-z. Until this morning I didn't have a good handle at all on the generational references to years, including my own, 1960. I would certainly understand folks thinking my assertions a stretch but symbolism in the corporate world is ubiquitous and since corporate wields the power it does over our social construct and has for decades, I thought "generational categorization" may not be any different.
  3. ***Generalization Alert*** Gen "X" falls 1964-65 to 1976-1977, despite the Viet-nam war these years fall in line with Black civil rights, free love and the women's movement. It is very suitable representing the symbol for the female chromosome X. Millennials, or known as Generation "Y"(male chromosome??), there is a bit more difference of opinion within our social construct with the range of where it ended, starting around 1977-1995 but many articles claim it is reaching out to 2000 and even 2004. Regardless, its fits nicely within a timeframe of what may be considered the disempowerment of the male, with kids, mostly boys lazily sitting on the couch playing video games with some television "programming" seemingly aimed at exhibiting kids talking back to their parents, a huge sense of entitlement, along with a very weak father figure, usually dumb and out of shape, unlike the Gen X television and the father knows best TV presentations. With no apparent, consistent or obvious section of years labeling Generation Z just yet, it is here and I'm guessing we are looking at our current young teenagers, maybe even down to new borns. Acceptance of the gay community and their ability to raise children and artificial insemination. I find it interesting that the May 2014 issue of Time Magazine's cover suggests "the next civil rights movement" is "Trans-gender tipping point". No X, No Y just an ambiguous and maybe an androgynous Z. http://time.com/135480/transgender-tipping-point/ So since the baby boomers, the three "generations" with social constructs: Just my opinion. Generally speaking, Gen X is a time of pushing for equal rights resulting in empowerment of women. Generation Y(millennials) is a time we see disrespect, entitlement, video game entertainment...laziness, disempowerment of the parents but more so with a dumb ass father father figure. Generation Z, so far, is accepting it's urban male Metrosexual and also the androgynous Trans-gender acceptance. Where are we headed?
  4. Sex slaves and even pedophilia is big business and a serious problem within a portion of the elite in most countries and the US is no exception. The ousted President of Penn State(Graham Spanier) who knew about about Sandusky's actions was hired by Obama administration. Apparently the job was/is too high security to talk about. How convenient.
  5. IMO, putting "the taxpayer on the hook" for failure of the derivatives market means "bail in". These derivatives are held by the largest banks. Also, IMO this wouldn't have been brought up as an issue if the derivative market was healthy. Maybe the Cyprus-bail in was simply a test run. I believe they are not above raping your bank account if needed. If a bail-in ever happened the dow would plummet terribly. In the past few years The BRIC nations have slowly been trying to move away from the dollar as the world reserve currency. I can see why.
  6. That is probably because Egypt responded to hamas while not killing the innocent ciitizens and promising compensation for lost poperty.
  7. A lot of blame to go around. Months ago many news sources reported Saudia Arabia and Qatar, our allies were funding Isis, which would be consistent historically. Then last month Obama said "the US underestimated the rise of Isis" but with a contradictory policy of funding syrian rebels, resulting in the the US essentially funding Isis. The American people should be so sick of being lied to while our country's reputation gradually descends.
  8. "I have no love for precious metals. They are a commodity, they are defensive, they do not produce anything and are based solely on supply and demand (and they have been brutal over the past year.) If you believe the collapse of the financial system is coming, then I doubt any investment will really pay off, even gold. The people who have gained truly gained wealth in this country did it believing in the power of our economy. I just want to try to sit out the correction this time around." I Should have added that I sold a bulk of the metals when they were around 1800 and bought real estate. When gold tanked to 1200 I bought more but enough just to have as security not as an investment. I do have other investments (IRA) that aren't tied to the Dow because I simply don't trust the market anymore. I agree that people who have truly gained wealth did it by believeing in the economy, however I believe we are living in unprecedented times and pretty much like you until certain indicators change that will effect my decisions and will remain defensive.
  9. I was told the other day HAARP 'being down" is now just being used as a Red Herring, as there is a more powerful array up and running. (LOL). Kind of funny despite what one believes they use it for. Dr. Nick Begich seems to be the foremost expert, at least that is willing to talk, on this device. His brother Mark is a Congressman and his dad died in a mysterious plane crash.
  10. I got out of the market when the 2008 crash started and bought ETF precious metals and also physical. I didn't have a 401k anymore so I didn't have to factor in withdrawal penalties. The problem for me is I lost none on the way down but didn't benefit from the mysterious ride up to the Dow record levels. Still, the more I learned the easier it was to stay conservative. I wonder what would have happened post 2008 if there were no bailouts and QE. We may have been well past recovery already(given we demanded full disclosure). I can hear Ron Paul's ""audit the Fed". At this point, IMO, any more Quantitive easing will only extend the inevitable and make the economy worse, especially when the reality that sound monetary policies were not being practiced and this awareness comes home to roost. If too many Americans realize their economy has been propped up by policies that have NEVER worked historically, what will be the perception and what problems will be caused by a people who start to learn that they don't trust the financial system? Obama had been instructed to tell the country all is ok. In the meantime the US and UK are running drills for a bank collapse scenerio. http://in.reuters.com/article/2014/10/11/banks-regulations-collapse-idINKCN0I004Q20141011 Back in 2008 the Fed stopped printing the all important M-3 report. The report presented enough knowledge to determine how much money was in circulation. It sure makes it appear they diidn't want anyone to know how much $$ was being printed and the inflation that would result. The Fed claimed not printing M-3 was to save money. Since when did the government care about that. IMO, whether next month or 3 years from now, the problems are going to be much worse than 2008 but the silver lining is that the American people should be upset enough that hopefully the corruption keeping the US from being a much greater nation should get scraped from the bottom of our shoes.
  11. It's going to be tough on the US economy to handle this "de-dollarization" if it worsens and it looks like it will. Obviously, the printing of money with no backing to stimulate the economy caused inflation but much of the rest of the world was just as irresponsible, even Japan. But now, With more countries opting out of the dollar it should result in even more dollars around the world eventually ending up in circulation at home creating even more inflation. Through the Bretton Woods ageement The IMF was supposed to make sure the Federal Reserve printed money with gold backing within the scope of peventing inflation. Not only did they turn the other way The Fed just simply went off the gold standard and told us all that it was a good thing. IMO, it was just more cronyism corruption. Despite the bulk of the world also harboring economic concerns, the US seems to have painted itself into a corner. As the holder of the World reserve currency we were to supposed to set the example. IMO, with many in the world wanting to move away from the dollar, we can only call for quantitive easing for so long without creating hyper-inflation. The lowering of interest rates did not stimulate the economy but may have prevented a depression I could be wrong but I don't see any way out but to accept only a strictly regulated government printed money, as opposed to money matters done in secret. This crap has been going on for too long and for the benefit of a few with not a peep from the media.
  12. It really lacks common sense to actually believe the players don't care. Appearing even slightly dejected with their play while the Royals are continuing to find that extra sparka and emotion, most likely creates this impression. I think the Royals pulled momentum from the defensive plays, when the Angels botched some. That coupled with knowing they were the underdog, tied and victory within reach against the number 1 seed, it possibly gave the Royals that extra intensity.
  13. Yea but as one poster said, it's the beat the dead horse therapy. Personality type I guess . It does no good but to the person beating said horse it's how they make themselves feel better.
  14. The playoffs certainly have their element of uncontrollable circumstances. However, IMO, KC was nothing close to a buzzsaw. Neither Vargas or Sheilds had their good stuff and the Royals happened to sweep the number 1 ranked Halos while batitng .198 for the series and striking out 1 more time than the Angels in the series. Ventura pitched very well but Shoemaker matched him with slightly better numbers. The Angels absolutely stunk with men on base continuing to allow their nuts to be sucked up into their body cavity. We were what? 2 for 30 with men on over 3 games? The mental prep of the games and series, such as using momentum when it's afforded you, hitting in bunches and knowing it's not as much what happens to you but how you react to it, are ignored when calling the post season a crapshoot. I also think club chemistry is amplified in the playoffs. I understand things happen beyond a teams control but if the playoffs are a crapshoot, then would think since 2002 the Angels are playing with dice that are loaded to fail.
  15. I think there is evidence of this in the past as well. Or maybe Scioscia's thinking is, "I know this guy isn't our best option but if he somehow pulls his head out of his @ss and goes yard with men on or hits a gapper with men on base, I'll look lke a Genius"
  16. I see your point but anyone who has gotten a hit or a walk. I am sure the other 8 starters have accomplished that.
  17. IMO, Hamilton is not a good matchup for what Shields throws anyway. I like the guy but there is something seriously wrong. Why Scioscia refuses to acknowledge this is a mystery.
  18. It really wasn't a strike. The throw was from shallow CF and the player had to reach off the bag and stretch to get it before he turned to make the tag. Also, the point that the fastest players in baseball could have made it safe may exhibit even more that Cowgil was way too aggressive.
  19. I don't think the bulk of fans want Scioscia to rip Cowgil in a press conference. I sure don't. However, there are a lot of things that can be said that fall between ripping cowgil and applauding him for getting thrown out on a routine outfield assist. Maybe, "Sometimes aggressive baseball creates mistakes. This was quite an very aggressive play that just didn't work out for us."
  20. I don't see "hate" other than a couple/few posters. I don't dislike JH at all, However, I want to win. I'd horsewhip Scioscia (if I had a horse) for starting Hambone, then covering for Josh with zero logic for playoff baseball, saying Josh needs more at bats to help get him going. Who gives players having a down year and injured on and off all year, just returning from another rehab, carte blanche at bats in the playoffs to try and help them improve their timing? We grabbed the top spot without Hamilton. This is win or go home. I wouldn't doubt players have lost respect for some of Mike's decisions. "Mr. Ed", an old TV show about a talking horse played for the Dodgers in one episode. In some twisted way Hambone playing reminds me of this. Actually, Mr Ed hit an inside the park home run and slid safely home. If only Hambone could become Mr Ed.
  21. He had an August ERA of 2.84 in 14 appearences(4 earned runs) so he wasn't sucking and was used a lot. Can't always put up the zeros. In Sept. One thing I noticed is that his numbers got worse as the team mailed it in after the division was wrapped up. Coincidence? .....I dunno maybe the pressure of last night but I just cannot pin it on him.
  22. As many know "jeppy" pitched great all year taking a 1.96 up to the first week of Sept up to 2.63 by getting scored upon in his last 4 of 8 starts to finish the season. Possibly, just as the Angels have done he's been drinking that new beverage, Apathy" into the post season. Other than that, he's been very good. Mike Morin, 2.20 ERA bloats his Era to 2.9 giving up 5 Earned runs in his last two outings and like "jeppy" heads into the post season on a down note, just as most of the regular everyday lineup did. They faltered just as the team lost their MO'. IMO, we have 5 real solid RP's that we can count on sans F Salas, as Salas is flat out awful with men on and the numbers get worse the closer the baserunners get to home plate.
  23. Not to be picky but "fat @ss Italia", although not very nice, is not racist. It may be nationalistic dislike but Europa is a melting pot just like the US, just older.
