  1. Why don't you like him? I don't like his numbers but other than an addiction we really don't know him. I hope the team's coaches are trying to give him advice.
  2. One of the biggest goofs was before anyone scored, Aybar trying to see if he could fool the runner going around 3rd base rather than getting the double play. That kind of bull crap has to go.
  3. No, right now the team is in their character building phase.
  4. Sometimes leadership is simply set by example. Manifesting a collective winning mindset should start with discipline, something this team lacks, IMO. The veterans can't continue the irresponsible base running and expanding the K zone with RISP and expect the team to wiin consistently. Oh yeah, and what Tomsred just said.
  5. "Yes! is that really a short line now at Panda Express"?
  6. The LWR reactor(Light water reactor) was to be built by the US. Ground breaking on the site was on August 21, 1997, but "significant spending on the project did not start until 2000". The project was halted towards the end of 2002 due to continuing poor relations which anyone probably could have figured since the US was supposed to lift sanctions and didn't. In 2009 North Korea announced its intention to build an indigenous experimental light water reactor (LWR). Since there was significant spending on the 2002 US project and N Korea is now able to build LWR's, something they couldn't do before the US presence, I'll go out on a limb here and say the DRPK learned something from the US. To expect the US or DRPK to ever reveal what that is not reasonable.
  7. Right, the reference is to the technology that eventually wound up as N Korea's alleged weaponry. As you may already know, N. Korea's original reactors back before the "Agreed Framework" that N Korea was attempting to construct using heavy water/deuterium, apparently weren't built yet. The US came in and made a deal with them to use the light water/thermal type reactors(apparently safer reactors). Maybe the US originally had good intentions, as the economic sanctions that had been in place since the Korean War were to be phased out as part of this deal. That didn't happen and it apparently played a part in increased tensions again. Clinton and his official's "reported" remarks regarding only making the agreement because they thought the N Korean Govt. would collapse hurts credibility IMO, especially since the US started supplying them with the nuclear technology that eventually led to their alleged weaponry, when our relations still weren't even close to being ironed out.
  8. Well, the US started giving them "light water reactor" Tech, using normal water as opposed to heavy water which N Korea was originally using(light water supposedly becoming more prevalent). Again, a signed agreement with no teeth. According to Wikipedia Clinton said (paraphrase)he thought the N Korean Govt would collapse before the benefits would come to fruition. Wow, that is so stupid it almost smells of corruption. So the Repubs didn't need to F this up, it was already done. As everyone knows, both parties mostly care about feeding the monster of big business and our enemies, controlled opposition or not, are big business.
  9. Surely nobody has set an example for him. He can do well, but he often has 1 meltdown inning. *Gonna go tonight* and Crossing my fingers. The young one wins and it sends a small notice to Vet pitchers who all weren't ready for the season as they all have the same issues.
  10. We just got shutdown by the 'stros. Maybe the A's aren't so geat after all..
  11. Arguing who's at fault and who's not is p1ssing into the wind. As a collective team this is one sorry @ss ball club so far. The lineup is very good and the pitching before the season was expected to be a little better than average. Scioscia deserves blame, Dipoto does, Arte does and so does the coaching staff. They set the tone and the tone stinks. From leadership to urgency, this team is lacking big time.
  12. I had no idea about Clinton's "Agreed Framework", a non binding agreement for allowing DPNK to have Nuke energy back in 1994. I just read some on it. I didn't know it was The US who gave the DPRK the technology for nukes.
  13. I wonder if MS and Dipoto get along well enough or there's still enough of a power struggle or whatever to create poor chemistry, or if it even matters. One thing's for sure, Scioscia looks stationary and unenthused and the players are to accepting of their failures and lifeless.
  14. Right, but our pitching whiile not steller was expected be able to hold its own. This pitching was a bit of an unkown but had the potential to be average collectively since there didn't appear to be any spots that were glaring weaknesses. Even the pen didn't and don't have to skus this badly, but they do. Just like last year, except down the stretch, the pen has a good game then next game loses a lead with a meltdown.
  15. I agree Doc the pen as played the major role, but if I may beat a dead horse here, I hope some of MS's awful bullpen management that has been going on 3 years now, (leaving guys in way too long watching the game go out of reach and pulling some doing well after 1-2 batters, not playing match ups), nobody ready in the pen or those match ups) hopefully doesn't demoralize the team. It sure demoralizes the fans.
  16. This is the first thing I think about. Who are these guys pounding the crap out of our all-stars. That just isn't a coincidence. We have a ways to go but once again the A"s look the are doing something right with a bunch of very good no-names and right now we have a system that can't compare to theirs as they have claim on winning the division last year with no names. What do we have, at least 5 of 9 guys in the lineup are all stars?
  17. LOL, Can you imagine if we didn't win that close 1 run marathon? 1 win out of 9 with so many good players and all-stars on this team. Winning only won 1 of 6 from our own division when we were picked to do well; bad starts r us.
  18. With all the talent it's hard to believe we look as bad as we do. It's upsetting to see an A's team with so much less money spent perform at a higher level. While I continue to go to games, the halos are an embarrassment right now.
  19. Does anyone think some of these guys are taking a diiffferent approach with RISP, as opposed to nobody on base. It's as if they don't reallize the real pressure is on the pitcher.
  20. With our Starting pitching that is league average at best, until Weaver and Wilson can prove they really are a 1-2 punch, average BP with bad Relief pitching decisions and the number of close games we give away with poor base running and the all around missing managerial discipline, It's hard to see a Mike Scioscia team going deep or even getting to the playoffs. It's early but I have no faith. Maybe his cool no sense of urgency rubs off onto the players.
  21. Despite the Guillen debacle. MS is not a Disciplinarian on the Fundamentals and it shows. Salmon, kennedy and Ersty kept the 2002 team in check and Ol' red @ss Ersty made sure everyone did their jobs.
  22. On the long drive home on Angel Talk the only thing I had a hard time hearing was the name, I think it was Kevvy. "Kevvy" had little trouble closing out the inning" Ya think Mike? How about: " When we still had a 1 run lead I left Kevvy in to to rot and allow 5 runs to cross the plate even after Base on balls, a hit batter a 3 run jack, a hard hit base hit to left and another home run and never thought to myself he may not have it tonight.
  23. Our politicians and also those behind the scenes who line the pockets of our politicians have put many of our soldiers in a terrible position of guarding poppy fields. It's all under the guise that we "dont want to endanger the military with angering the locals by stopping the poppy growing". Much of the righteous military are doing the right thing and trying to teach the locals how to grow wheat, cotton, melon...etc. Unfortunately, since the encroachment of Afghanistan, the opium production has increased to an all time high and accounts for approx 90% of the worlds production.
