  1. We don't know that he is. Again, this is an article about nothing by someone with no inside information.
  2. It is just some guy with no information throwing out a story that isn't one. Slow news day at the sports desk, I guess.
  3. Dear New York: We have a pitcher on our staff who has a history of success in the NL East. His name is Joe. Will trade you straight up for your guy and will wait for him, while you can enjoy the services of our guy immediately. You're welcome.
  4. I doubt that Joe would touch this job. Huge payroll, gigantic expectations, aging and underachieving roster, little hope for meaningful change in personnel. In Tampa he and the GM are of like mind, they develop young players and turn baseball on its ear with a payroll a fraction of that of the teams they compete with in the playoffs. There is no pressure and no lofty expectations, which has to make winning all the more gratifying.
  5. It seems that many people are missing that central point. The title says "...expected to stay in Anaheim". This tells me that the writer knows nothing for sure and has no inside information, which begs the question as to why this little blurb was ever written. I did like a couple of the responses from fans (who are also assuming that both staying will be the end result, but still): Only thing more shocking than the Angels disappointing season is that nobody will need to take responsibility for it…..the idea that the “improved” second half showing meant anything should have been dismissed after the disgraceful surrender to the Rangers on the final weekend…..if any team needs a kick in the butt and some fresh thinking, this is the one….instead, looks like another season of declining & overpaid “stars” mixed in with waiver wire stopgaps surrounding Mike Trout. So disappointing. They did not play “so much better” in the second half. They were two games under .500 at the All-Star Break and ended the season six games under. Even if he isn’t completely responsible for Pujols and Hamilton, Dipoto has to pay for Blanton, Hanson, and co. Scioscia hasn’t been effective at the helm for years. Terrible mismanagement on his part. At least fire Butcher! Throw me a bone for goodness sake.
  6. Just shake his hand during spring training, Scott. Problem solved.
  7. I fully understand guys wanting to avoid surgery if necessary. However, I also know that due to poor circulation within it, cartilaginous tissue takes forever to heal on its own, if it ever does. Why not take the sure thing now instead of waiting for months and then having to do it anyway?
  8. Got one. Was not looking forward to going to LA down 0-2. I'm not delusional enough to see the Braves taking two at Dodger Stadium, so I'm just hoping for them to get back home for Game 5.
  9. Actually it's third, behind turning the page and tipping the cap.
  10. I'm glad that the FO made the announcement about Browns QB Brian Hoyer tearing his ACL and being out for the season. I was thinking about picking him up for one of my fantasy teams.
  11. It is laughable for someone whose main defense is that he believed that Biogenesis was a legitimate doctor's office to be suing MLB.
  12. Good for him, standing up for his guys. I don't understand the hate mail. It's not as if Baker deliberately threw games during the season or in the playoffs. Venting on a message board is one thing, intruding on someone's privacy is quite another.
  13. Another catcher: Player/Manager Jeff Mathis.
  14. Both are chains, but fairly limited ones. Fleming's has 12 locations in California, including Los Angeles, Newport Beach and Beverly Hills. http://www.flemingssteakhouse.com/locations Del Frisco's has a few locations across the country, Vegas is the farthest west. There is also one in Denver. http://delfriscos.com/locations
  15. Watched most of the fourth quarter. Bruins made the plays when it counted. Won on the road despite not playing their best game.
  16. Brilliant. Just f'n brilliant. Let's just gift wrap it.
  17. Looks like another quick end to my postseason. At least this year it is more than one game. One f'n hit. Unbelievable.
  18. Except that on the team directory, GM will be listed as Tony Reagins, to make people believe that we actually have one.
  19. This has been the issue, and since so much has been spent on the wrong guys, there is a lot less left to spend on the ones we could truly use. We could have gotten Adrian Beltre for a fraction of what we paid Pujols, filled a position of need that is a lot harder to fill than first base and saved a bunch of cash. We could also have signed Russell Martin for a song when the Dodgers let him go, and fixed our catching problems (except that the Scioscia-Mathis love affair was in full swing at the time). There have been a lot of bad decisions made on which players to acquire and which ones to pass on. I doubt that there is a need for me to rehash the Vernon Wells trade.
  20. My Jaguars take another step toward a perfect season, and Teddy Bridgewater with the #1 pick in the draft.
  21. If cost were no object, it would be a tossup between Del Frisco's Double Eagle and Fleming's.
