    Anyone who is focused on our performance against one team after a season like this one has no clue about perspective. I sincerely hope that we go into this offseason with loftier goals than winning the series against the Astros in 2014.

    This isn't a new development. May has sucked as an analyst since day one. What he doesn't get wrong, he completely fabricates. Of course, he has the two traits that ESPN values most in an analyst: He looks good on camera, and he has ties to college football (in his case, as a player). Accuracy and sensibility are irrelevant.

    Chris Berman has been about self promotion and calling attention to himself for years. It makes me want to puke to hear people in the industry heaping platitudes upon him as if he is some kind of standard bearer in sports broadcasting. Same thing with Brent Musberger, but that is another thread.

    As an Oklahoma alumnus, it was mysterious to me how Oklahoma State went from perennial also-ran to national contender. Now I have my answer - several of them, in fact. It is no secret that people like Garth Brooks and T. Boone Pickens have put a lot of money into the program, but that alone does not account for the transformation. This does.

    I watched most of the second half of this game. Nebraska started out like they were going to blow UCLA out of the stadium. Whatever adjustments the Bruins made at halftime, they ought to bottle and sell them. Nebraska was thoroughly embarrassed in front of their home crowd. No Nebraska team has ever given up 28 points in a quarter at home before today. The second half was total domination by a team who appeared dead in the first half.

    My own viewpoint is that Girardi is not a great manager. With the roster he has been given for most of his time in New York, just throw them out there and watch the wins roll in.

    Ken Rosenthal article on Fox Sports about Joe Girardi's contract with the Yankees running out after this season, and his options for 2014 and beyond. Interesting read.     Not to put too fine a point on it, but Blanton was already on the roster when Wells was sent to New York.

    The fact that Arellano felt the need to continually take shots at Moreno's Mexican heritage by throwing in Spanish words here and there and then going through the charade of retracting them blew any credibility he might have had. It showed me that all he had was his own anger. He did mention Moreno moving the team to Las Vegas, though, which would make my game day commute about four hours shorter.

    I have teams in two fantasy leagues. In one league I had Peyton Manning as my starting QB, got 60 points out of him - and lost. I got 154 points and played the only team in the league who scored more than 110. My opponent got 167. In the other league I got a tie in my first game. How unlikely is that? Murray is on my team that got the tie.
