  1. I don't get signing bonuses. "Here's your new $100 million deal, and since that isn't enough, here's $8.5 mil more."
  2. I think our chances are much greater in retaining Upton than getting Martinez anyways.
  3. Austin Jackson already turned down coming to the Angels once before if I recall correctly.
  4. I guess we'll know by Saturday what Upton decides to do. Will be a big first step into what happens for the Angels' offseason plans. Hopefully, it starts off well.
  5. Lol yeah, I initially was going to say what my chances for trading for Stanton for each of the teams I listed (LAA, LAD, SD), but then I felt I was rambling. But I put the Padres at about 5% chance of trading for him, which is generous.
  6. So it comes down to whether Arte wants to go ALL IN until 2020 and take on a contract that he would have to surpass to keep Trout, or go with Upton and other smaller contracts (compared to Stanton) and then give Trout that gargantuan contract.
  7. A lot is going to come down to WHERE he wants to play, with a full no-trade clause. If he wants only SoCal, then Angels, Dodgers, and Padres get in a bidding war, entire west coast...then a few more teams. But we don't know where he prefers to play.
  8. The final 3 of each position were announced. Angels have 4 total players nominated. Three not surprising, one very surprising. Simmons Maldonado Calhoun Upton http://m.mlb.com/news/article/259748786/gold-glove-award-finalists-named/?topicId=27118122
  9. All of whom are establishment members who need to go. Down the with establishment on both sides.
  10. I'm not sure you are including all the facts into your knowledge of what happened. The Clinton's were receiving money prior to the Uranium One deal, into their Foundation, and then while it was completed. All under Obama's nose. Read here the by left leaning NY Times. The new investigation is picking up where Mueller and his FBI comrades failed to go. https://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/24/us/cash-flowed-to-clinton-foundation-as-russians-pressed-for-control-of-uranium-company.html Whether the donations played any role in the approval of the uranium deal is unknown. But the episode underscores the special ethical challenges presented by the Clinton Foundation, headed by a former president who relied heavily on foreign cash to accumulate $250 million in assets even as his wife helped steer American foreign policy as secretary of state, presiding over decisions with the potential to benefit the foundation’s donors.
  11. Yeah I expected that response of "we don't deserve" the evidence. But we do. If it affects laws being passed, we do. If it affects peace of mind when we attend events with big crowds, we do. There is more official evidence that isn't being shared, because, well, I don't want to start a conversation into what I think it is. But it's not just a lone shooter gone unhinged.
  12. How as this been debunked? This whole investigation is just starting, though it's been on hold during the Obama admin.
  13. Yeah that's exactly the thought I had as soon as I typed my post. But the general public deserves to see some evidence pre-shooting, of some things that happened leading up to this event. Hopefully, we see some of these videos before too long.
  14. Well we haven't seen video from one of the hundreds of camera's inside Mandalay. I find that very strange. Heck, within days we saw camera footage of the Boston bombers walking through the crowds.
  15. This is spot on. I'd love to see the Dodgers lose, but Blarg's prediction is sadly accurate.
  16. Or his ISIS counterparts.
  17. It'll simply comes down to what Jeter and co. desire more of, prospects or more payroll flexibility. They could tell teams we will only pay so much and then expect a top tier prospect in return, or they could say we just want this contract off our hands. We have yet to find out what the Marlins really want to do.
  18. The window for Baltimore and Machado is getting smaller by the day. They will want something for him instead of letting him walk.
  19. If Adell can be packaged for a Manny Machado or Arenado (not that COL is looking to trade him, yet), you gotta do it.
  20. Which team are you all pulling for? I'm sure most will not be pulling for Boston at any cost. I'm in that boat. The Astros have a fun group to watch, and it'll be fun to see them beat the brakes off the Red Sox. But ultimately, I think Cleveland will be representing the AL in the WS, and winning it.
  21. So what do you say about a teacher who abuses their power to molest a child? Does this spoil all teachers?
  22. This world is full of bad people. Some work as police officers, some work as professional athletes, some work as politicians, some work as school teachers, some work as bankers, some work at the 7/11, and so on and so on. Yes police officers carry the power of the badge, but it doesn't change that bad people still make it through. That's the way the world is. But to stigmatize the thin blue line does nothing to improve things.
  23. Totally agree. It's gone on over a year now, and it's time to figure out step 2, which in my opinion goes to what I originally said...athletes and cops and let's include politicians (gulp), into the mix of coming together to educate people on different cultures, the struggles people face, etc. There has to be a peaceful step 2, and the angrier people get on both sides, that won't happen.
  24. I said nothing of what Trump said. I agree it was also very divisive and not at all healing.
