  1. Perhaps you went to bed early, but all east coast teams are out of contention for Ohtani. All the teams listed here are what’s left.
  2. When Angels meet with him, they should bring the following players: Trout, Simba, G-Rich (to have pitcher), Pujols, and Upton. Upton would have a unique connection with Ohtani as someone who could have been a free agent to go elsewhere but found a liking for Anaheim. I think that could be a big selling point.
  3. After seeing what appears to be Ohtani’s preferences, I would think it leaves the Angels at the top. Smaller market, West Coast, ability to hit just about every day, no Japanese player comparisons, and chance to win. Eppler needs to close the deal!
  4. Some people aren’t driven by money. Weaver comes to mind. He just wants to play with the big boys. He will make his millions pretty quickly.
  5. I read on mlbtraderumors from Twitter say something obvious that I hadn’t thought of and I don’t think was brought up anywhere else. But when Otani signs somewhere it’ll be a minor league deal. And then any team can extend him at any time. Then he will get his million$. But the sticking point is that a major league contract cannot be part of the negotiations of signing initially with a team. Hopefully I made sense of this.
  6. Arte’s mistakes as we know them, have been due to over aggressiveness. It’s like running first to third and getting called out in back to back innings only trying to win the game. But I think he has learned from these mistakes.
  7. I think Anaheim is a place that Otani would feel comfortable, but I don’t see the Angels making much of an attempt to get him. I don’t understand why they won’t, but I see it highly unlikely due to their track record of not doing much in the international market.
  8. Makes sense. In other words, the perfect storm for a sluggish off season. But once the storm passes, it’ll probably move in a whirlwind.
  9. Boy have things slowed down to a crawl in the Hot Stove. Usually by now there are a lot more exciting rumors, not just with the Halos, all across MLB. The Otani thing must be holding everyone back.
  10. I do too, but not sure any situation that they would be brought up when talking about Angels baseball, other than a thread like this.
  11. I read this article as saying Sosh, this is what you need to implement into this team if you want to stick around. Otherwise, Eppler will get someone with that mindset to lead this team. There were too many unproductive at-bats last year.
  12. I feel the Angels induced a similar punishment just for signing Baldoquin.
  13. That's right. Simmons and him are from the same neck of the woods. Didn't Profar perform well in the WBC last year? I remember him hitting a big HR.
  14. Profar will be 25 at the start of next season. That's still very young. I'd take him.
  15. I'd definitely love the Angels to try for him, and ultimately get him. But the interest has left me only hearing crickets.
  16. I just think the idea of Upton/Trout/Stanton, 2-3-4, is just way too good to pass up. It's a ton of money, so I doubt it happens, especially with a Trout extension on the horizon. But man, this lineup would be unreal to watch.
  17. The latest on Stanton. Eppler goes the way of past Angel GMs. Plays his cards close to the vest. I doubt we’ll hear any rumors until it was almost a done deal if Angels were to trade for him.
  18. Chapman would be a good fit since he already knows our signs.
  19. Obviously there would be compensation with a QO. But at this point, it's time to win, not worry about a 2nd round draft pick, or whatever it is with the recent changes. It's time to go for it. Santana would be much cheaper than Hosmer, and probably better in the long run, or nearly as good.
  20. I'd rather go for Carlos Santana, so long that he doesn't accept Qualifying offer. He's a switch hitter with pop, decent glove, and high OBP.
  21. Ok I guess the word "important" is relative in this case. I just mean that they played a big part into each game. Not saying the bullpen was effective for any given team or dominant for any given team. Just that the bullpens were used a lot by both teams.
  22. My point being that the bullpens were heavily relied upon. Starters coming out in the 2nd and 3rd and 4th innings about every game. So yes, bullpens were very important in this years playoffs.
  23. I'm fine with that. Neither pitcher looked very good in the playoffs. After watching these playoffs, it was the bullpens and offenses that lead the way, both areas the Angels will focus on this offseason.
