  1. They should never have dropped their original set. They’ve been a mess aesthetically ever since. Maybe tweak it a bit here and there, but the teal and black was a look that fit them and the area.
  2. I think the more AB’s Trout gets, the better. Keep him where he is. There will still be many parts of the lineup that are sub-par regardless.
  3. We must tip our caps and turn the pages. No player is safe from an epic AO rant. Tank is the real GM of the team.
  4. They’re already trying to cover for Harper. That’s great. The media no longer has its Trout drama, so now they want to protect Harper. He asked for that attention, practically demanded it. It was almost Miami-era LeBron and his “Not one, not two...”. Harper made that bed, but the media now doesn’t want him to have to lie in it.
  5. Agree. I’d rather them let the younger guys play since this is a bridge year anyway.
  6. Gritty vets without overpowering stuff. The ball was coming out of Mikey’s hand really well.
  7. We didn’t learn anything we didn’t already know. The SP is still a question mark, and the offense will be significantly weaker without Upton and Ohtani. Luckiily it’s a marathon and not a sprint.
  8. And Cahill not looking so good...
  9. Hopefully the Angels will not follow other teams that no longer allow that in the name of “safety”. I like that I can bring a few things in that my kids will like.
  10. Agreed, as will TEX, DET, CWS, TOR, and KC. The AL is very top heavy. I think HOU, NYY, and BOS are playoff-bound, along with CLE (by virtue of playing in a pretty weak AL central). Anything can happen in baseball, but I think the only playoff spot up for grabs is the 2nd Wild Card.
  11. I feel like I should have known that, but I didn’t want to credit the wrong guy. ?
  12. I forget which one of the posters here regularly attends the high-level meetings at the Del Taco in Corona, but the Mets and deGrom seem to prefer 7-Eleven: https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-jacob-degrom-contract-extension-press-conference-20190327-nzzztojxqvc7dmyiejbiv2xaha-story.html
  13. Adding to the OP, the overall costs of attendance are spiking over the past few years. Here’s a good article from Beyond the Box Score (with a link to a good FanGraphs piece on a similar topic). MLB is really getting fans focused on the wrong aspects of what is supposedly hurting baseball (pace of play). I really like this bit: “Ultimately, herein is the issue. The issue of income inequality is not going away, so while you have on one hand a rising cost of living with ticket prices that far outpace even that, you have an entire generation of people that are not only less interested in the sport but also less able to even afford it in the first place.” https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2018/6/18/17472832/mlb-attendance-us-cost-of-living-ticket-prices
  14. It’s good to read that the Angels are in great financial shape, and that Arte isn’t afraid to say so. Not all team owners like to say anything about their financials. To me it signals, as has always been the case, that the team will spend to put the best product on the field. i know the prices get high for us fans (I’m planning a trip out to ANA next month), but that is all driven by demand. If people weren’t willing to pay it, the team(s) wouldn’t charge as much.
  15. Kapler has a reputation for overdoing it on the Sabermetrics. His inconsistent lineups, numerous pitching changes, etc. I think PHI led the NL in defensive shifts last season. Maddon is similar.
  16. That’s exactly what it is. Reading the article I don’t see how any of those changes are beneficial to the fan experience at all. Give me a dog and a beer and I’m good.
  17. He has an opt-out after 2022. The deal, unfortunately has a full no-trade clause. I suppose he could still be traded if he liked the destination, though.
  18. I was hoping the Mets would find a way to be the Mets about this, making deGrom available for the right price.
  19. This. I know injuries are part of the game, but can the Halos at least start the season with a healthy lineup? Or at the very least, can the injury bug hit some of the less essential guys?
  20. I doubt they’d pick up his option even then, or if they did, they’d look to trade him. One of the things Arte said at the Trout presser is that they want flexibility. Part of that is utilizing the younger (cheaper) home-grown talent as much as possible. Kole may not be good enough at that price point with the OF depth the Angels have coming up.
  21. This is true. With the Rays you can go all the way back to Longoria. And they just locked Snell up as well.
  22. Sale agrees to 5yr/$145M extension. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/26332268/sources-sale-red-sox-agree-5-year-extension
