Angels Win With Help From a Fan By MIKE PENNER JULY 15, 1985 12 AM TIMES STAFF WRITER Had this game been played in mid-October, rather than on the final Sunday before the All-Star break, they’d be writing poetry about it. Maybe they will, anyway. This one, a 5-3 Angel triumph over the Toronto Blue Jays, will be hard to dislodge from the memory of anyone who witnessed it. The setting: Two American League division leaders doing head-to-head combat before a roaring Anaheim Stadium crowd of 35,306. It’s a pitchers’ duel, heavy on managerial chess-playing, resulting in a one-run Toronto lead as the bottom of the ninth inning beckons. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1985-07-15-sp-7772-story.html I was at this game. I'll never forget Bell going into the LF bleachers with the ball in his glove and emerging from the bleachers without the ball. Game Winning Home Run Downing! Thank you fan who took it.

at least get a catcher...

I'm fine with Fletcher at 2B, and La Stella at 1B platooning with Pujols. Maddon likes to mix and match. Keep Rengifo, Thaiss, and Walsh around for depth or package in a trade.

Angels were interested in Sabathia and Teixeira, and the Yankees got them. Will this time be different? I hope so. -
I vote for Wheeler, Grandal, and Will Smith. oh wait...

Maybe we could hire Astros fired Asst GM Taubman first, and then sign Addison Russell. Then Taubman could scream out for no reason he's so f'n glad we signed Russell.

5 of those guys have already been Angels...just come on back.

We've got Stassi and Bemboom. We've got this.

MLB Network Hot Stove segment: Maddon on approach to managing

Sounds like Maddon will be lobbying Arte to extend Eppler beyond this season. Fine with me. I'm cool with 5 years of Eppler / Maddon, just no more 10 year contracts. -
So much for our luxurious depth...

I also remember during that playoff series Hamilton saying he was allowing the team to inject "poison" (cortisone shots) into his body in an effort to get back on the field and help the team... -
Everyone is mad at the very nasty Astros Brandon Taubman

"If he wanted to offer support for Osuna, he would tell Osuna, not yell it in front of reporters and cameras. No, this was something darker. Arrogance, intimidation and a contemptible sort of nastiness. Something the organization easily could have disavowed. Instead, it tried to spin it -- and whirled itself into a corner from which there is no extrication." - Jeff Passan https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27901119/the-houston-astros-denial-just-made-bad-situation-worse
