It's entertaining reading the arguments that fans make as millionaires fight with billionaires over the money being made from fans.
As a side note, every current player feeling deprived of just compensation now knows what any player from the 60's and 70's feels like.  I wonder if anyone still remembers Curt Flood?

I think we've talked about this, but Thaiss went for under slot while Whitley went over.  $1 mil difference.  Hindsight is 2020.  would I like to have whitley?  Sure but if we don't draft Thaiss, then we can't go over slot on Marsh, Williams or Rodriguez.

and the demise of our farm during the Dipoto era wasn't all on him but he certainly contributed a huge chunk.  
Step 1 was completely pulling out of latin America after firing Daniels in 2009.  
Step 2 was Reagins taking the reigns from Bane, botching the 2010 draft, and then firing him.   As an aside, the 2010 draft was just unfortunate in that by the time we made our first pick at #18, there just wasn't a ton of talent.  We had 6 of the top 81 picks and 5 of the top 40.  From 18 on in the first couple of rounds, the best players so far are Yelich, Aaron Sanchez, Syndergaard, Taijuan Walker, Jedd Gyorko,  Drew Smyly and Simmons.  That's only 6 very good to good major leaguers in the first two rounds from the 14th pick actually.  (Chris Sale was 13th).  In the 3rd round you've got Reed, Thornburg, and Realmuto.   
Actually, from the 14th pick on for that entire draft, here is the WAR ranking.   Simmons (2)- 28.6, Kiermaier (31) - 21.5,  Yelich (1) - 17.4, DeGrom (9)- 17.4, Adam Eaton (19) - 16.5, Calhoun (8) - 13.0.  
Step 3 was the hiring of Ric Wilson 
Step 4 was the hiring of Jerry Dipoto
Step 5 was the free agent signings that cost us picks.  2nd round in 2011, 1st and 2nd in 2012, and 1st in 2013.  
Basically ignoring Latin America for 5+ years was by far the most impactful.  2nd was the Dipoto factor (poor drafts.  trading guys away.  using every last resource for the mlb club etc).  
Arte was complicit in all of the above but it is interesting that Billy has been able to get him to do the complete opposite.  Is it live and learn?  Or does Billy have a better plan?

You very well might be one of the most profitable teams in the league.

I am not a snow flake but personally aware of the social implications of such things.  ....live on or near a reservation as a native for awhile and you will see it.

My grandma was a native American, and she didn't like the logo. I am not offended because I know the logo doesn't intend anything bad. It was originally drawn by a 17 year old.
But I do appreciate this decision, just because I see that there are people who are sensitive and thoughtful enough to show that they care about minorities.
Do you know who the real easily offended snowflakes are?  The ones that are so hurt about not having their favorite logo on the players uniforms anymore, that they are calling out to boycott the season. Talk about wussification.

I don't care how good of shape he's in, he won't bounce back if he takes a similar approach to last year.  He absolutely has to have better strike zone management.  Could his lack of discipline be related to injury and being out of shape?  Maybe.  But that's a bit of a stretch.  
Since he's become an Angel, he's forced his at bats.  Getting worse every year with a career worst 5.8% bb rate and second worst 33.9% rate of swinging out of the zone.  Did he press last year?  Or has his bat slowed down to the point where he just can't adjust anymore.  Where he has to commit a bit sooner and therefore fastballs are by him and he's in front of breaking balls.  That's called getting caught in between.  It happens when guys are in slumps usually.  It happened to him all last year.  
Can I be sold that his extra weight made his bat slower?  Maybe.  Or that he was landing on a bad knee or foot?  Maybe.  Or that pitchers could throw him just about anything near the zone and as long as it wasn't dead red he'd get himself out?  sure.  
What I would love to see is him come out and swing less.  Get through mar/apr on a 60-70 walk pace.  Let Zack Cozart, Kole Calhoun and Luis Valbuena drive him in.  Get on base at a .340 clip with 20hrs and that will help the team far more than hitting 30hrs with a .290 obp.
