Makes sense Reed is not vaccinated. I hear the vaccine can affect coaching.

.1 This is probably a generational difference.  The Mariner "incident" was more common when I played than it is now.  Mike Trout had numerous pitches thrown way too inside after his single man wrecking crew series with the Mariners.  Nevin did exactly what I learned to do when playing the game and I see nothing wrong with it. I subscribe to the Nolan Ryan approach to pitching, he said that half of home plate was his and the other half was the hitters'.  The hitter never knew which half Nolan would take with each pitch.
    2.  His roster is garbage.  That means his players are inconsistent, unreliable and can not be counted on to make smart baseball plays every time.  That is not on Nevin, that is on Minasian.
I am not advocating for Nevin.  I am disagreeing with the simplistic conclusion that replacing Nevin somehow makes the Angels a better team.

Help me understand why Nevin is such a bad manager?  I don't think we know anything about Nevin except that he can successfully manage a clubhouse when everything seems to be going wrong.  He has one of the worst rosters to work with, a GM who is lost, hardly any helpful scouting, limited options and inconsistent production by players who should be carrying the team.  How does any of this suggest that Nevin is bad?

    dear jeremy reed,
after our trip to toronto (miss you, buddy!) we'll be returning to florida for an extended trip through the south. we'll pick you up at our hotel in tampa, so wait for us there. the rumors about us returning to anaheim to play are silly nonsense, so pay no attention to them. we'll see you soon!

Bill Rigney would have this team in playoffs. Look at 1962 roster, results matter.

Marginal players do not slump.  The results are due to marginal players on the roster which is Minasian's fault.  If results matter, why does Minasian still have a job?

Looks like the Angels are doing a three player attack against the Rays.  Interesting approach.

Barria has been solid all season.  He actually gave up no earned runs, which means his defense let him and the Angels down.  You also chose to ignore the 6-9 hitters who collectively went 0-15 with 10 strikeouts and 10 left on base.
But yeah, I guess in your mind this loss is on Barria.

Barria stepped on the mound with a 2.58 ERA and a 157 ERA+ in 66 innings of use, primarily in long relief.  He has been the most dependable arm out of the pen this year. Any team would jump on the chance of having a guy that can give you 4 scoreless innings when your starter fails to get out of the 2nd inning.
Your bad is you watched tonight's game and made up your mind from one inning of work.
