Angels_Fan got a reaction from Chuck in THE Official 2019-2020 Hot Stove Thread
I would LOVE for the Angels to trade for Gray. He's not making much, gets a lot of groundballs, and has good strikeout/walk numbers.
I wonder what it would take to get him, though?

Angels_Fan got a reaction from Torridd in Angels sign Anthony Rendon (7 years, $245 million)
Great deal. Season saved. I also think Eppler may have just saved his job.
Now get two more good starters and a serviceable catcher, and this is a legit postseason team.

Hmm. I didn't expect that. Not sure if I believe it (given the current state of the rotation). But with two good starters, the Angels most definitely are a 90++ win team.

The Angels can probably get Price for free if they want to take on his entire salary (which they shouldn't).

Rendon + two good starters + a decent catcher would make the Angels a postseason team, imo.

7/230 would be terrific. Sign him already, Eppler

Why trade our top prospects for Arenado when the Angels can just sign Rendon instead while keeping our prospects?

He may not want to play with Harper, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t want to play with Trout, who is one of the most humble superstars and doesn’t really crave the attention like Harper does.

He wouldn’t be a salary dump, that’s for sure. Just sign Rendon and keep the prospects.

If the Angels sign Rendon, they wouldn’t ignore their rotation, obviously. Rendon would just be the final piece to the puzzle to make the Angels legit postseason contenders.

100% agreed. If Arte wants to make the postseason, Rendon + two starters a la Darvish and Ryu is what it’s going to take.

I mean, I will be OK if it's Donaldson and a couple better starting pitchers, but after losing out to Gerrit Cole this team needs to make a BIG SPLASH, but not just for the sake of making a splash, but by adding a 7 WAR player in Rendon.
I'm of the belief that if we add two of either of these guys (Ryu, Bumgarner, Kluber, Darvish, Teheran, Keuchel, Boyd, Ray, Price) +Rendon, +Adell soon, +Callaway's help with Bundy/Canning/Heaney/Sandoval + having La Stella and Upton for a full season, I think we're a playoff contender from the get go!
But I will reiterate, this team needs a Rendon for the reasons I mentioned. But not just for making the club better, but get getting fans out to the ballpark and boost the overall team's morale after losing their top target this winter.
Thoughts?

Angels_Fan reacted to Chuck in Plan B: What do you think the best option for the Angels is now?
I agree with this. This is why I'm not only interested in Rendon, but even looking at Contreras in addition to Ryu & a trade for an arm.
To me Maldonado or Castro only worked if we went ALL in on pitching which included Cole and someone else like Wheeler or Ryu.

Wins are wins, and if the Angels can improve 4 wins at 3B, it still counts in the standings.
What’s the alternative?
