  1. Saw the movie "Mud" today. It was really good. Great acting, especially from the kid who played the lead. Stories are so much better when they are more character-driven than plot-driven.
  2. Statistics and common sense?
  3. I didn't know Tony Reagins was on Whose Line.
  4. Blanton throws 7 shutout innings, Angels score 3 runs off Felix in 7 innings. Bullpen comes in the 8th and gives up four runs. Angels tie it in the 9th. Angels win it in the 13th.
  5. He's pitching his career game tonight and then will magically go back to sucking in his next start.
  6. Second season in a row that he has been placed on the DL with some type of wear-and-tear injury. Also, I think I saw a gray hair on his head the other day when he took off his hat in the dugout. Did we really sign this grandpa to a 5-year extension a couple years ago? From now on, I say we only give extensions or contracts to players who are 23 and younger.
  7. Someone should call in and act like a happy chappy "Halo Honk" to the screener and then ask a negative question when they actually get on air.
  8. "This game will cause us to take a serious hit in the Pythagorean standings."
  9. Absolutely. After Kendry's (he was singular Kendry back then) injury, the entire MLB scaled down their walk-off celebrations. Time passes and people forget things.
  10. These threads only work if the OP is serious. I think the OP is serious. It will work!
  11. Awesome. Mike Scioscia, you sneaky fox you.
  12. There are some people (the most notorious being Bill Stoneman, followed by Stephen C. Smith or "FutureAngels") who follow the Angels' minor leagues really closely and become so attached to their prospects that they overvalue them. Case in point: the Miguel Cabrera trade in 2007 that never was. During the past 10 or so seasons, we've seen so many incredibly-hyped Angel prospects who fizzled out in the majors. It's alright to have a handful of untouchables (Trout being one of them, as he is a once in a generation player), but for most GM's the general principle is if you are deciding between a proven major league player and someone who has never played in the MLB, you go for the proven player.
  13. Corbin's pitched very well in 19 IP this year. Last year, he had a 4.53 ERA, which isn't bad for a rookie. But it's still too early to determine if he's a solid big league player. Skaggs is "knocking on that door?" He only pitched 29 innings last season and had an ERA of 5.83. Still way too early to determine whether or not he can put up solid numbers in the MLB.
  14. Why is he in AAA if he was so good for the Reds the last two years? He had an incredibly high WHIP both those seasons, which means his ERA was much lower than it should have been. He also had an ERA above 6.00 in his last season as an Angel.
