Adding Burnes does nothing. This team should stick to only vet minimum meme signings until Arte dies.

Arte definitely strikes me as the kind of guy that funds paramilitary operations and destabilizes foreign regimes in his spare time.

I was eating a burrito in a crowded movie theater. Arte Moreno looked at me and yelled, "This ***** eatin beans!" Everyone laughed. I've never been so embarrassed.

Great write up. It goes to show that developing a successful organization goes beyond just having a big payroll and splurging in free agency. Just as a note, Mike Elias served as the Astros scouting director from 2012-2016 and was responsible for player development and minor league operation from 2016 to 2018 before leaving for the Orioles. Lo and behold the O's are now one of the top teams in the East with probably the best farm system in baseball right now.

My first guess is that since pitchers aren't worried about him hitting the ball hard they just pound the zone making it hard to work a walk. Not sure if the data backs that up or not though.

Ducks fandom is pretty much in the same boat. It's just really hard to motivate yourself to watch a bad product day in and day out.

redoctober2002 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in OC Register: Carlos Estévez suffers 3rd blown save of season in Angels’ loss to Royals
I've started to think the opposite, where if you move someone else to the closer role and they do well that could really up there value. It comes down to whether you think the odds are better that Estevez can turn it around or one of the other relievers in the bullpen pitches well in the closer role. I'm not sure how easily Estevez can get his value back considering his struggles the second half of last year.

It's a shame that this seems to be the direction teams are taking. Baseball is the perfect sport for radio and when you're listening in to a TV broadcast you just miss certain details cause you don't have the visuals.

Pretty sure it's during radio broadcasts when the team is away. Since the radio team doesn't actually travel with the team they have a sound guy just pump sound effects into the broadcast to simulate stadium noise.

It's ridiculous when you think about it, cause you basically have two guys watching TV and then explaining to you what they see on TV. If they're away, I typically just listen to the home town broadcast. This gives the added benefit of getting to know the other team/players a bit better plus some of the teams have some really good radio personalities.

Can't wait to get the single highest floor college bat in draft history and have him in the major league lineup the same night as the draft

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise. It's pretty crazy to think that the most productive year the Angels might get out of Rendon will be the Covid year where he put up 2.2 bWAR.

It's 3/39 but still, this was a pretty good deal considering the pitching market that year. I think the intention was to provide some stability in the middle, or worst case, back end of a 6 man rotation while providing some veteran leadership in an otherwise young rotation. That next tier of guys above him were going for $20M+ AAV, and the top tier guys going for over $30M AAV so $13M is quite a bargain. I would say if Anderson has an ERA around 4-4.5 and pitches 150+ innings the next two seasons I would feel that contract was a good deal with all said and done.
