  1. Buehrle is gonna be 35 and is owed $30M over the next two seasons.... and there's no way they would take Blanton. They know Hanson is washed up as well. And it would provide them what, $4M in salary relief? Iannetta makes $5M and Hanson will make around $4-5M in arbitration. We're looking for cost-controlled young pitching. The last thing we need is more bloated payroll for another guy in his mid-thirties.
  2. He's one of those players that probably couldn't be traded even if we tried, simply because any team interested would have to give up such an astronomical haul of blue-chip, cost controlled players and prospects that it wouldn't even be worth seriously considering. It's hard to make that kind of investment in one individual player, no matter how good they are. Especially with how valued young pitching prospects are now and that being the likely focal point of any trade involving Trout (getting back lots of elite pitching). Any deal would probably have to involve multiple teams and players, or some kind of sign and trade deal.
  3. If the Yanks and Dodgers are truly interested in the guy, I don't think we really have a chance to outbid them on the posting fee.
  4. Seriously, with how weak the FA pitching is this offseason I can't see any way that Vargas accepts a QO. He will likely get a 3-4 year deal somewhere.
  5. Isn't Taylor Lindsey more the replacement we're gearing towards? I can't imagine Green sticking long term at second base.
  6. The best beer options I've ever seen were at a Portland Timbers soccer game, it was magical. I'm all for supporting more craft breweries.
  7. .511 OBP since the ASB, does he think he's Bonds or something?
  8. Message boards are primarily used for venting and hashing shit out regarding underperforming Angels players (which is pretty much everyone), not sure why at least some "offensive language" wouldn't be expected.
  9. He's in his age 28 season next year, I doubt he has much "overcoming" left to do. He is what he is.
  10. More like infinitely depressing fact of the day
  11. Stop with all the stats and stuff, I rate players by raw emotion brah
  12. They pretty much grown on trees, so that shouldn't be an issue really
  13. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/23225290/albert-pujols-officially-ruled-out-for-season Good choice, hombre.
  14. Arte will pay him $100M over ten years to be our new bench coach
  15. Well, its better than nothing. As long as they make the challenge flags hot pink.
  16. I'm sure Puig has coached the Dodgers pitching staff to have the 3rd best ERA in baseball. Trout should get on that.
  17. A one-line quote in a USA Today article shows where his priorities really lie?
  18. Most teams don't have to spend on the BP because relievers that throw heat but aren't good enough to be starters are a dime a dozen in minor league systems, and inevitably a handful of them stick or learn a second or third pitch and become useful. And I also have no idea why Gutierrez is a go-to option lately. Probably the same reason Tommy Field is getting starts. Or, "who the hell knows besides Mike Scioscia".
  19. I'd rather they tank and get a protected pick than middling around 14-16 and having it thrown away again when Arte/Jerry sign another type-A.
  20. The guy turns 28 in a few months, how much potential does he really have left? AJ pretty much nailed it in that he's a one-tool player that is only valuable because that one tool is very good. He walks a little more every year, but his K rate increases along with it. His arm is nice, but who cares if he has a plus arm really? He's played a total of 27 games in the OF this year and has racked up a whopping 1 assist. We don't need him in the outfield with our current logjam, so 80% of the time he's playing 1B/DH anyways. All in all, I don't really care if he stays around or gets potentially packaged for pitching. I feel like he's more valuable on another team honestly. A nice player, but not a building block. The future of the team is going to be guys like Trout, Bourjos, Calhoun, Lindsey, Conger, Green, etc.
  21. All the godly people on our team suck. Maybe they should switch to scientology or satanism or something
  22. What the hell was with his first start back where he was hitting 94? Then the clock struck midnight and he regained pumpkin form immediately.
