HaloCory22 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Source: Angels "have to be" in on Darvish
We're a battered wife. It's all we know. :'(

So you're essentially saying signing a 31 year old to a 5 year deal is insane but signing a 29 year old to a 7 year deal is cool.

Nail on the head right here. How some people are content with the rotation and "depth" we have right now blows me away. We need someone that's actually pitched consistently the past few seasons.

Still more starts than anyone on this staff in the same time except maybe Shoemaker or Iron Man Skaggs.
Why exactly does everyone think Yu is going to explode and fall apart next year or in the near-future? Am I missing something? He made 35 GS, postseason included, last year.

You're right, because he'll be in our rotation.

I think the Angels can sign a Darvish and not be "all in." All in would be to deplete the farm for even more pieces.
@totdprodsmakes a good point: the Angels essentially have nothing in the way of starting pitching commitments going forward. Darvish would mitifate against the potential loss of Richards next year, and or the potential the team cuts bait with Shoemaker. Darvish actually makes a lot of sense if the price isn't prohibitive.
And for the record, while I don't think Yellich is a player we need, he is essentially the best case of what Jones or Adell become. I'd have no issue including either of them, plus Maitan (who frankly, we have no connection to since he is brand new to the organization), plus any starter not named Richards/Ohtani, in a trade.

Signing Darvish for 5/110 would be a no brainer to me. The Angels rotation is so full of question marks and jags that a consistent starter would be great.

Brown only makes 1.25 mil, only 500k more than what Shaw was making.
Also, he played well last night.

This season's team and their NMC/NTCs
NMC- Perry, Getzlaf, Kesler, Bieksa
NTC- Eaves, Cogs, Vermette, Miller, Fowler (next season), Manson (in 2 years)
So that leaves Henrique, Rakell, Silf, Brown, Ritchie, Kase, Lindholm, Montour that are signed beyond this year with no clauses.

Cogs suspended two games. Iron man streak is over.

ugh.
great locker room presence but stone hands cogliano can just never get it done.
i expected him to walk, we have lots of raises coming up. and he could potentially get more on open market, like an overpaid 4x$4m.
can't complain about that contract. the org loves him.

HaloCory22 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Why is everyone not penciling in Parker Bridwell into the rotation
Skaggs, Meyer, Shoe, Heaney, Richards.
Main thing I don't like about Bridwell that the 5 guys above have is the ability to get Ks. Parker's ERA/FIP is 1.20 off from each other. By far the biggest gap of any of our starters. Match that with his 38.1% GB% and 1.41 HR/9. Screams bad to me. I'd be fine with him down in AAA refining his pitches a bit. Get the ball lower. Miss more bats. With that said tho, I don't trust anyone in this rotation. Not one of them can I look at and say "Bank on him for this this this in 2018" They're all wild cards.

@tdawg87 you haven't experienced Spring Training till you fill up a 5 seat car with 9 drunks and drive to Del Taco at 1am. Man, 2012 was epic.
