Do yoga. Focus less on lifting truck tires and more on flexibility. Oh, and LF/DH.

The boys are back! Victor Rojas, Chuck Richter and Geoff Stoddart talk about the Angels first quarter results and give their grades on the club as of May 18th, 2024.
What is it going to take for the fan to invest time & money into following this team throughout this season?
The guys also discuss the Ron Washington / Luis Guillorme failed bunt controversy. Was Ron Washington fed promises on acquiring talent that were not kept upon his hiring? Is he frustrated with the front office?
The guys also touch a little bit on the upcoming MLB Amateur Draft.
    Much more….

If you can't get a really good return at the deadline keep him and try to deal him in the offseason.

Typical Yankee prospect. They draft him, overhype him, then trade him to some sucker. Then that sucker finds another sucker to pawn him off to.

No, I just looked at the large picture. Lost your #1 TORA (even if he was out this year. No replacement was brought in). Lost same player MOB didn't replace that position either. They counted on a guy with injury concerns who burned them the last 3 seasons. And their other Star is sliding...They dumped $ into the bullpen. Which isn't bad if you have the rotation that doesn't burn it out. And your rotation has continued to be consistently, inconsistent. For the most part, the lineup once the 2 star paid players went out again is anemic in producing any kind of consistent production. Some of the parts did well early. But, aren't the players that can be expected to carry a lineup. Ward is a great 7-9 hitter in a top lineup and a horrid MOB for us. Will avg 260-280 10-15 HRs 50-70 rbi. He is the LA equivalent to Frosted Tips.. He just isn't the type of athlete that can carry a team. He's a good support guy a right handed Kole Calhoun!
There wasn't anyway to even improve all of it through FA this last winter. A few parts could have helped. But, they would have needed to drop another 65M AAV in the rotation (Snell is already out). And another 60-80M for the lineup and the bench.
None of the Prospects dealt last winter would have helped this year 24 or in the next three seasons.
I could go on. Meh, why bother. We're burnt toast waiting for the owner to sell.

Gotta ship out the rental relievers and clear opportunities for the young guys.
You might sacrifice a little bit of value in the individual deals, but my strategy would be to move guys out quickly.
So move the guys out now/this month who are performing good.
Then try and get the underperforming guys going and ship them out around the deadline.
Ultimately, the August bullpen should be filled with young guys.

Historically the #8 draft pick is very rare an above average MLB player. So I really have no expectations the Angels can draft a MLB ready player. Even picking the "best player" in their slot insures nothing.

It's all on Arte. He makes the final decision on everything. He has put a stench on everything in baseball ops. Free agents, drafts, and development. I don’t  see any way to rid the org of that stench until he sells.

If a team in contention gets an injury in the OF, they'll probably either have someone in their system who's better than Pillar or they would just acquire someone else who's better than him.

Agree. But it showed zero confidence in him from the outset. That is not what an org should convey. All because of Arte's announcement of selling the team and then reneging.

As a fan who has followed this team since its inception in 61, i have never seen fan's looking at this team with such negativity. In the 60's,the teams were understandably poor. But those teams could at least pitch and play good defense. They just couldn't hit. Today, this team looks like  a really bad expansion team. They can't hit, pitch, or play defense. The negativity today incorporates every aspect of the organization. Jeff Fletcher's multi piece article he did about a year ago was a really good illustration of the slow detering of the Angels as a whole. Currently, i don't see the negativity dissipating in the near future. The only way i see this organization climbing out of this whole is for the team to be sold. There will not be any optimism until Arte bails. If and when that happens, that is when a shift from the negativity to optimism can start.

Joe Redfield came out of today's game after 2 AB.  Once again, can't find out any info on what, if anything, happened to him.  I really wish there was some way to get more consistent, detailed info about the minor league guys.  There has still been no official report or even a brief article about what's going on with Cole Fontenelle (I know he broke his ankle, but haven't seen any updates aside from him being put on the 60-day IL...did he have surgery?  What's the recovery time? Etc., etc.).  Nothing about Nelson Rada.  No info on why Alberto Rios hasn't played in over a week (and he hasn't been reassigned to the AZ Complex team or anything like that, at least that I can find).  And now Redfield.
    Gimme some info!!
