  1. MLBTR has Keuchel at 3yr/$39M which is $13M AAV (assuming he gets it which he'll get more so I'll add extra $1M) Maybe we get the Cubs to retain $2M of Quintana's contract since we will take Contreras too. Quintana $8.5M, Contreras $4.5M, Keuchel $14M. This puts our luxury cap at exactly $208M.
  2. @Jeff Fletcher pointed out we have about $27M to spend before we hit the tax. They could easily afford Ryu/Contreras or Keuchel/Contreras and still be under.
  3. Now that we have added two starters who will go deep into games each start I wouldn't mind taking more of a risk approach with Ryu. More upside.
  4. Marsh won't start on major league club. Although AAA is a hitters dream and shouldn't matter as much, he'll have Adell, Upton, Trout, Goodwin and likely Hermosillo ahead of him.
  5. Knowing that the Angels don't like to manipulate the controllable years of their prospects makes me think if Adell has an excellent Spring then he'll make the roster. They plan on him starting in AAA but I think he absolutely has the chance to force the issue. Marsh will start in AAA. Obviously September call-up if not traded by deadline, but if Upton goes down with an injury then plan on Marsh getting the call.
  6. If the Angels can get Contreras without Canning or Marsh would you do it?
  7. I understand they want the salary dump too, but that likely takes us away from signing Keuchel or Ryu which would be an upgrade over Chatwood/Quintana. I wouldn't part with Marsh for a catcher either, but I would go Rengifo, Adams, Suarez and a filler for Contreras if that's the "ridiculous" price. If the Angels sign Ryu/Keuchel then their pitching is set and they are keeping Marsh. Therefore there won't be room at all for Adams with an outfield of Adell, Trout, Upton/Marsh. Then again, Adams can show flashes like a future Byron Buxton and Marsh could tear up AAA and raise their values to net an Ace in a trade at the deadline or next offseason. That would give Eppler much better options by simply holding on to them right now.
  8. Angels were linked to him awhile back and his former manager, Joe Maddon, is now with the Angels. I assume it'd involve Marsh, but not sure what the entire package would look like. Any ideas? Imagine a lineup of: Fletcher, Trout, Rendon, Ohtani, Upton, Adell, Contreras, Simmons, LaStella......Good lord.....
  9. Ohtani is going to have a perfect game heading into the 6th and they're going to pull him haha
  10. I'd feel somewhat comfortable with Ryu and Ohtani in the playoffs, but that's about it. Unless they pair Heaney/Canning. Still, a very strong team if Ryu is added
  11. I based mine off last year's numbers. I'm surprised Teheran is only projected for 05 WAR. If Bundy is 2.3 then I'd honestly put Teheran at around 2.0. Yep, will be a fun team to watch if we add Keuchel.
  12. Although it's a very optimistic look, I totally agree. We have to keep in mind that a healthy year from Trout, Upton, Simmons, LaStella, Canning, Heaney and Ohtani could change this team alone. Add in Maddon/Callaway and then Rendon, Teheran, Bundy and possibly Keuchel and this could be a very good team without giving away any prospects. Houston did get worse, but they are still a VERY good team and Texas/Oakland will be better. AL West will be a tough division this year.
  13. Angels SP WAR top 6 by IP (2019) Cahill: -0.4 Pena: 0.8 Heaney: 1.0 Canning: 1.1 Barria: -0.5 Suarez: -1.2 Total: 0.8 Angels FA SP WAR (2019) top 6 rotation for 2020 Keuchel: 2.0 (Assuming we get him) Ohtani (2018): 1.2 Teheran: 2.4 Bundy: 2.3 Heaney: 1.0 Canning: 1.1 Total: 10.0 Total without Keuchel: 8.0 This is a VERY big difference already
  14. Good point. Two things I think. Simmons will be traded or not offered a new contract if they plan on keeping Rengifo and Fletcher has a solid year. Once Rengifo is traded then I think he gets a contract extension which i'm 50/50 about. I think Fletcher is more than capable of handling SS in the future and that can save $15M+ for the Angels for them to make a run at another starter next offseason.
  15. Not Canning. It's said the Indians have a ridiculous asking price for Clevinger which is why the Angels should turn around.
  16. I'll change my feelings of "giddy" to "optimistic" if we get Ryu or Keuchel. I'd then like a trade for Contreras.
  17. @Chuckster70 didn't say both. It's either Adell OR Marsh and a package. Plus @Jeff Fletcher pointed out once that it's easier to replace outfielders than it is pitching. Adams/Knowles/Deveaux are options in future. If it meant getting a controllable frontline ace then I'd part with Marsh. Anyone should agree to that.
  18. She said they'll get $20M/yr. That's a bit overly exaggerated I think. Bumgarner didn't get that. I doubt they'd get that.
  19. They were "close" like last week. Anyways, I'd go with Ryu ONLY if his price drops below Bumgarner (which it won't). Then sign Keuchel as well and trade for Contreras. Rotation: Ryu, Ohtani, Keuchel, Heaney, Canning, Bundy Lineup (end of year): Fletcher 2B, Trout CF, Rendon 3B, Ohtani DH, Upton LF, Contreras C, Adell RF, Simmons SS, LaStella 1B.
