The Official 2020-2021 Hot Stove Offseason Thread

This is assuming they'd sign Odorizzi first right? I don't think they'd trade Heaney unless another SP was brought in. -

I hope so too. I didn't hear them saying payroll was going up only that it wasn't going down. Either way if the Angels are set on their rotation, which is mediocre, then adding another bullpen arm should be a priority. -

Really hoping the Angels make an offer to Trevor Rosenthal. Dude can hit 101mph and would be a big force in the bullpen for us. Hey, if the rotation is what it is then at least get us one hell of a bullpen arm. If the Angels don't sign him then I pray the only reason why is because he wanted too much money. -

Spring Training thoughts: As Spring Training begins in a few days i'm excited to watch some of these players hopefully perform very well Jo Adell, Brandon Marsh, Reid Detmers, Jeremiah Jackson, Jordyn Adams, Juan Lagares, Jared Walsh, Shohei Ohtani, Jose Alberto Rivera and Patrick Sandoval. Would be nice to finally start seeing a big push from our younger core. Also hope that Adell and Marsh start year in AAA (which is highly likely) and then both tear it up. -
I scrolled through this entire thread thinking i'd see more boobs. I'm disappointed....

I'm going with Mr. Contact, David Fletcher. Although having Trout do it would be historic.

I'd 100% pull the trigger on this. At some point, Adams will likely be the odd man out. If Minasian were to trade Marsh/Adell I think it would have happened earlier in the offseason. Therefore I think Marsh and Adell are here to stay once ready for MLB. Based off of Minasian's comments from the ZOOM MEETING it seems like Adams has make good progression. Should he have a breakout year then his value will shoot up. Could be something Minasian is waiting on. -
Are you attending MLB games this season?

Same here. All depends if they let us in. I'll gladly wear a mask, just let me in the damn stadium. I'll sit in those empty sections 501 or 540 if I have to do it. No one ever does anyways. -

What I meant by that was by the Angels having solid options in the back-end of the rotation. Seems like we always had fill-in spots in years past. Sandoval/Barria (young and likely not ready), Peters, Suarez, Bridwell, Lamb... etc... Just saying that with Bundy, Heaney, Quintana, Caning, Cobb and possibly Ohtani the Angels have a rotation with a lot more experience from what we've seen in years prior. Will that be good? No idea. -

Cobb isn't going anywhere. In all honestly I doubt they add another starter (if anything it's the bullpen), but if they did it'd be between Heaney and Canning being delt. Heaney would clear a little salary space for the Angels. Canning would only be traded if it was for the right package. Does that involve Contreras AND Hendricks? Sure, but he'd need to be paired with a big package including Adams. It makes 0 sense getting rid of Canning since he's cheap and not a free agent till 2026, but an argument can be made when it gives us an ace for 4 years and a solid catcher for 2 years. Heaney getting dealt would likely happen long before Canning does and even then Heaney being delt this late in the offseason won't happen. -

Agree 100%. If the Angels added another starer then I'd think someone has to be on the move. But then again, it's a year where pitchers haven't pitched a full season since 2019. The more depth the better. With Minasian saying they're okay with the current roster makes me think the only other move would be to the bullpen. -
Angels are a much deeper team. Not much better at front of rotation, but deeper on rotation and outfield should injuries happen. Would be nice to see them add one of Odorizzi, Paxton, Walker or Rosenthal. Overall I'm excited to get the season going and watch Detmers, Adell, Marsh, Lagares and Rivera show what they can during Spring Training. Crazy talent with those names

I'm pretty content with keeping Adell and Marsh at this point. If Hendricks and Contreras can be had for a package including Stassi, Adams and others then sure, but it's HIGHLY unlikely which means i'll pass. I'd love to see another starter come over. Angels would have ridiculous depth. It wouldn't be high-quality, but it'd be a rotation deep of true MLB starters. Something that can play extremely well with everyone suddenly playing a full season again. I'd feel much more confident if the Angels still got one of Odorizzi, Paxton, Walker or Rosenthal. It needs to be done. -

But all-in-all the Angels are stacked with outfield options. Wonder if it's a way to fill in for Upton should something happen with his knee...... Or toe. Trout, Upton, Fowler, Jay, Lagares, Ward, Schebler, Adell and Marsh. WOW -

I've gotta have a LITTLE more value than him. Cuz I don't have a big contract over head. -

Upton, Maitan and we can throw in Pujols to sweeten the deal. -
