  1. I think most people want Odorizzi, and I'm not convinced. I want Bauer or a trade for someone in the category or Gray, Hendricks, Marquez
  2. The only reason I believe Mark more than I do Maria is because the way things were said. It would completely blow my mind if the Angels really "Aren't in on Bauer". A team that has struggled for so many years to solidify their rotation isn't in on the top starting pitcher this offseason?? That's EXTREMELY bold to say. Mark, on the other hand is saying they would need to clear $ to get Bauer. it leaves the door open for a yes and no with them being in on Bauer. I HIGHLY doubt that the Angels aren't in on him. They both have their sources, the only difference in a verified symbol next to their names.
  3. Yea, everyone has their own sources. He is involved with baseball on a way Maria is. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what the media says. What matters is the end result. Tomorrow if Bauer were to sign with the Angels she can suddenly just say "Angels changed their minds" and she'd be excused from her story.
  4. YUP! And, if its a complete contract dump (assuming Bauer is $36M AAV), then the Angels would have about $9.96M of space left.
  5. Yes it would. But it'd be like a Cozart/Wilson deal. Upton have much more negative value from contract, but we'd likely have to pair a top prospect with Upton for a team to take his contract. (or part of it)
  6. Honestly I find people who aren't beat writers for the actual team to be more insightful. It's not a bad thing to the writers, but they seem to cover the news when it happens rather than go digging for rumors/answers. That's why I find it really suspicious that only one writer has a saucy rumor that the Angels are out on Bauer when they usually report the same exact thing at the same exact time. Again, not knocking on them, but it's just what i've seen.
  7. Why isn't anyone on here talking about the Steve Cohen drama today? https://nypost.com/2021/01/28/mets-owner-steve-cohens-point72-down-amid-gamestop-fallout/
  8. Or most importantly, Rhett Bollinger who is the beat writer FOR THE ANGELS.
  9. You think Bauer has more baggage than Hamilton did? come on....
  10. I don't know. Why would Bob Nightengale write an article saying the Mets have offered Bauer a record AAV deal? Then backtrack? Why would Jon Heyman start breaking info/rumors from Luba before she can even deny or confirm? Maria's story claims the Angels aren't "in" on Bauer. But even if we find out that they made an offer or engaged with him it completely voids her story. All I'm saying is we've seen time and time again with writers jumping the gun on rumors and stories all to be the first. They need to start being held accountable if it becomes misleading.
  11. I'd be completely shocked if what Maria Torres is saying is correct. A team that desperately needs a top of the line pitcher? A team that has whiffed over the last 3 years in acquiring one? A team that has verbally admitted they need to really figure out what's wrong? and suddenly they AREN'T interested? Come on now.....
  12. If that's the package then i'm 100% in. Just don't touch Marsh or Adell quite yet.
  13. Thought the same thing so I researched him a bit. He used to be with the Associated Press, SiriusXM and Baseball Digest. He also published a baseball book which seems pretty popular and is followed by Victor Rojas, Jim Duquette, Peter Gammons, MLB Communications and a large number of other writers. I know I know "oooooo followers kkooolllll", but some of those names don't just follow anyone so there has to be some truth to the guy. Who knows....
  14. Totally agree but I feel like either decision comes with a big IF and that's hard for me to stomach. That's why I felt spending more for this year would have made much more sense. It gives the Angels a front line arm and allows them to keep prospects for one more year to have a fresh feel for things.
  15. FarmVille... jk I know we have tradable pieces (Marsh/Adams), but what I don't like is what's left after that. Angels are still in a position where they're growing their farm talent. Spending more this season looks a hell of a lot better than trading Marsh away IMO. Come 2022 and Upton has 1yr left on his contract it could be wide open for Marsh to start getting serious reps. Sandoval/Barria MAYBE are moveable but i wouldn't touch Detmers/Rodriguez/Kochanowicz. The Angels finally have young SP talent with huge upside that they can develop.
  16. Didn't we say that last season? If I remember correctly, there were quite a few games where both teams scored 6+ runs and we still lost.
  17. With what farm? Gray is pretty much off the list with the Reds feeling like they can compete. Marquez is a pipe dream and Hendricks would likely cost too much. Besides, the Cubs have the second worst pitching staff according to Fangraphs. Do we really think they'll trade another starter? Not happening.
  18. Anyone want to read this load of S*** ?? https://www.latimes.com/sports/angels/story/2021-01-27/angels-arent-in-on-trevor-bauer-still-improve-starting-rotation
  19. Arte didn't prioritize Rendon over Cole. Cole was their first option then once he signed with the Yanks the Angels fell back on Rendon.
  20. He's followed by Victor Rojas, Peter Gammons, Jim Duquette and MLB Communications to name a few. Not protecting him, but just saying he doesn't seem like a random Jane Doe.
