  1. *Jon Heyman take with grain of salt* This sees like the same direction to Mets are in with looking to strengthen bullpen. If true, might leave White Sox and Angels in the Bauer mix. Though, I wouldn't count the Angels out with having Springer as a deeeeeep backup plan. Then they'd flip someone like Adell for an Ace.
  2. Agree. I think this week he signs. It'll be very hard for him to be the first to announce it. Someone from any team (even the hush hush Angels) will spill the beans. Unless he has someone from the team announce it for him on his vlogs.
  3. At the beginning I was enjoying his posts and vlogs, but now it’s become an F-ing headache. I only say this on the Angels’ behalf because I feel like the more and more he stretches this out then the more likely the Angels are still waiting for him to sign while everyone else chooses a team. At the end of everything we will be left with signing someone like Quintana and that’s it.... Angels are about to screw themselves by waiting for Bauer to choose and then realize he goes to Toronto or Chicago and they’ll be left, yet again, with nothing. If Angels can’t sign him by the end of this coming week then they should move on.
  4. It’s been about 2 weeks since Luba said he’s gotten offers that are showing COVID hasn’t impacted the dollar amount. Trevor Bauer has had offers in his hands for awhile now. This waiting game is now starting to get completely pathetic.
  5. I like how the Angels aren't even mentioned in this article yet they’re one of the teams that desperately need to make a trade for someone like him
  6. Yup. Let's say he is willing to push it to $30M. If that's the case then the Angels can still get 2 starters. Musgrove is set to earn $4.45M this year. Backload Bauer so it's $25M in year one and then trade for Musgrove.
  7. Agreed. Though if the Yankees can pry away Castillo then I doubt they'll trade Gray. No way they lose their top 3 guys in one offseason. And yes, Arte cares about actual payroll, but there's no way that he just decides to blow through the tax. His physical payroll has always been above him tax. Doubt that flips.
  8. Honestly I'm very mixed with him. I love him if he's paired with someone like Bauer. If he's paired with someone like Odorizzi or less then It's typical Angels.
  9. Angels have roughly $30M before hitting the tax. The Angels usually don't sit at the tax so I feel like they'll only spend roughly $10M-$15M Get ready for another disappointing offseason. This time it'll be Musgove and then someone like Odorizzi.
  10. Wish this was what the Angels were doing. Reds must like the MLB ready players the Yankees have. Yankees' farm system isn't drastically better than ours. Wouldn't be surprised if they trade Torres and then Yanks sign Simmons or Semien.
  11. @Second Base @Chuckster70 I don't think the Dodgers are in on Bauer. I do think the Mets will still go after Springer and the Blue Jays heavy on Bauer since they need pitching just like we do. White Sox are my sleeper team. To me, it's down to three teams. Angels, White Sox, Blue Jays. With the Angels signing Suzuki to a contract friendly deal and not trading prospects for Contreras it gives me the feeling this is the plan: Angels make a trade for a #2 type pitcher (Musgrove, GRay, etc.) they will then make substantial offer for Bauer. The Suzuki signing has now made me firmly believe Bauer will be heavily pursued by the Angels. It's looking like they will get the 2 starters they claimed they needed.
  12. Good price. Likely done with going for Contreras/Realmuto. Angels now can solely focus on pitching. whoop whoop.
  13. Angels have signed Kurt Suzuki for 1yr/$1.5M. Now they can focus on pitching.
  14. Looks like Arbitration players are signing for a bit less that what MLBTR and Spotrac had listed. I like it.
  15. We're going to get all the Arb news today for the Angels then wait another 3 weeks huh haha
  16. I get both sides, but I can't buy into what 2020 showed us with anyone at all. If we're saying guys like Heaney and Canning showed great improvements in 2020 then can we all say that Kris Bryant (.206avg), Francisco Lindor (.258avg) and Cody Bellinger (.239avg) are on a decline? I'd honestly give 2020 as a "pass" year on claiming anyone is on a decline or improving. Just to like what @Second Baseis saying.... There's going to be a lot of players going back to normal with the Angels from what 2020 showed. Walsh, Ward, etc.
  17. Well said. I would like to add that the offense I think will be a bit better than mediocre, but it's an almost spot-on assessment on everything else. In order for the staff to be sent over the edge with pitching talent then it will cost Bauer and one of Gray/Musgrove. Period. If the Angels pivot to a Realmuto and Musgrove netting then I think the Angels still might fall short. Sure, they'll score 5+ runs a game, but they'll still be giving up just as much. Angels desperately need that front rotation arm. Like I've said all along, they need a to find a #1 and #2 guy.
  18. I'll be worried if Bauer, Odorizzi, Gray, Musgrove and Castillo go else where. If those players are gone then i'll panic.
  19. Awhile back Taylor Blake Ward and I helped PA/document Fullerton's club baseball team for one of my writers. Taylor Blake did a great job and the best part is he's one funny guy.
  20. I like this but I also don't. Because every time I hear him announcing I feel like i'm watching a video game.
  21. Do you really suspect the Angels to be in on names like Bauer, Gray, Castillo, Musgrove and maybe even Marquez? Or has those rumors been lead by media only? Yes I understand that they're likely in on all of them, but realistically, do you think they're pursuing those names heavily?
  22. This is something the Angels are absolutely built for. It doesn't HAVE to have them all at SP wages. majority of #5 and #6 pitchers should be depth/league minimum anyways. If what Maddon says is true that they need 2 more starters then their depth looks amazing for this scenario. New guy, New guy, Bundy, Heaney, Canning, Barrria/Ohtani/Sandoval/Suarez
