  1. Yep. Per Spotrac: Realmuto: $23M Odorizzi: $14M Musgrove: $3.75M $40.75M Trade package for Musgrove: Adams, Jackson, Sandoval, Deveaux Although, if he's assuming Bauer would be $35M then let's say this... Bauer: $35M Contreras: $6.2M $41.2M Trade package for Contreras: Adams, Sandoval, Martinez Both options you lose a draft pick. first option: -solidifies catching position for few years with incredible defense and solid bat -invests payroll in 2 new arms with #2 potential*** second option: -potential ace to rotation -catcher for at least 2 years. Financially, I'd go with option number 1. Angels will have much more depth with chance to win now and financial flexibility to plug in another pitcher in 2022. Thor, Ray, Gray to name a few younger options.
  2. Minasian is on MLB Network Sirius radio right now. I'm not subscribed so can someone please post what he's saying???
  3. Jesus these pitchers are getting WAY overpaid. Makes me a little concerned for Bauer now. With a new CBA in the future does paying tons of $$$ really matter?
  4. Sure, but the counter is the baggage of players the Angels have had no problem employing. Josh Hamilton Vernon Wells Jose Guillen
  5. Who would I chose to what? Who's the best? Or who to trade? Honestly I'd trade Adell over Marsh. Marsh might be more projectable and Adell has the 'potential' to be an All Star player. I'll take solid and projectable all day than a potential all-star. At least in the times the Angels are in. If it was a rebuild then I'd keep Adell all day and let him grow. Look at the Chris Sale/Red Sox trade back in 2016. The main package was Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech. So far, Moncada had one year (2019) of really good offense and Kopech throws gas but was out with TJ and mental health issues. The point being you just never know how a prospect will turn out. It's a risk to trade and a risk to keep. Would I like to keep both? 100%. Do I realize one might need to go to get us some pitching? 100%.
  6. The one thing that does concern me though is him saying "he wants a World Series". I only say this because the White Sox, Padres and Mets are closer to that than we are. I think it's really crucial that the Angels trade for another arm and MAYBE a catcher before he makes his decision. Because he is taking notice of what the Padres and Mets are doing, not the Angels.
  7. I'd have to disagree a bit here. As I mentioned previously from the video he posted that he really cares about a "partnership". From a business prospective, he wants to form relationships with management and vice versa. If there was one MAJOR plus about this then it'd be our management system which I think is now the best in baseball. Joe Maddon and Perry Minasian. One of the greatest player-first coaches and Perry Minasian who has only talked about forming connections to his players and listening to what they think. Maddon has said analytics are cool but sometimes it's a feel for the game. Bauer/Maddon can heavily relate to this. I think compared to other coaches/GM combos that this could be a deciding factor for Bauer. All Arte has to do is say "we will be open to ideas you have" and then let Minasian and Maddon implement that. Callaway might need to be more metric driven BUT like I said if upper management says "we will be open" then that whole thing changes. The Angels have done a 6-man rotation but that doesn't mean, like Bauer said, that things can't be negotiated. Let's say there's some matchup scenarios that might be better to have Ohtani batting a couple extra days and Bauer could potentially be that "4th day" fill-in. One plus about our rotation is that it's so bad nothing is set. Things could absolutely be moved around.
  8. I will say this... If he really cares about a "partnership" to where both sides (meaning he and the team) will listen to each others' ideas, then that has Minasian/Maddon written all over it. Minasian has said he is all about listening and building relationships with the players and we all know how Maddon is. Just a thought.
  9. Will miss Victor a TON. One of the coolest and smartest guys I’ve ever had the chance to talk to. He definitely would have been a great GM at some point. Wish him nothing but the best for he and his family. Maybe Terry Smith moves up to play-by-play for TV and Jose Mota moves to radio?
  10. But at the end of the day would you do it? Gets Trout his World Series and allows Minasian to build the farm he wants? If we're World Series favorites for 3 years that gives some time to jump start the farm a little bit. Not like 2014 where it was a one-hit wonder.
  11. Gray isn't considered the best starter out there. Bauer, yes in terms of best FA pitcher out there.
  12. Plus we won't lose a pick which is always a plus. I've loved this idea but it's a dream The main issue is the prospect cost. I'd have to imagine this starts with Adell. And if we're taking 2 of their top arms then we'd have to include a pitcher of our own on this one. Canning? Likely. The Reds will part with Gray because of $ but Castillo is controlled and cheap. We'd have to make it look really nice for them. Unless it's a quantity over quality type thing....
  13. I'm in for 1 of five options: 1: Sign Bauer then trade for Gray. fangraphs projections would have us in top 2 of baseball for offense and pitching and best overall as a team. 2: Sign Bauer and trade for Musgrove AND Taillon. Again, tops in fangraphs projections 3: Sign Bauer and then trade Adams/Sandoval/Martinez for Contreras 4: Sign Realmuto/Hendricks and then trade for Musgrove and Taillon 5: Go all out and sign Bauer and Realmuto and then trade for Castillo
  14. Based on fangraphs numbers. we get this: Add Bauer: 3.9WAR Add Gray: 3.2WAR Angels splits then look like this Batting. Pitching. Overall 25war. 20.1war. 45.1war This makes them tied for second best offense, tied for second best pitching, and best overall in terms of projected WAR.
  15. And these numbers drastically change if we get only 2 pitchers. Mariners still need quite a lot.
  16. I doubt it. Mariners are further away than we are to winning. Bauer want's to win. He's not 100% money driven.
  17. I've been thinking a sleeper team would now be the White Sox. My thoughts on teams in it are Blue Jays, Angels, White Sox and MAYBE Padres... Sleeper being Mets. Angels- Need multiple pitchers. They're likely a #1 and #2 guy away from being serious contenders, but they're in a weird spot again. Do they get multiple arms who are lower in value? Or finally get their big pitching cookie but are now stuck financially? White Sox have a solid rotation, but with the Indians bailing out, they have the motivation and $ flexibility to push for him Padres were said to have contacted Sugano. With their current payroll right around where the Angels are, it makes me wonder if they're open to spend more still given their interest still in Sugano. Blue Jays are close to playoffs. This depends on the race for Springer with the Mets. If Mets get Springer then Jays likely will pivot to Bauer. But Blue Jays need pitching badly IMO. Mets with a payroll just north of $160M they are now focused on Springer. But if the Jays get Springer then I wouldn't be surprised if they fallback on Bauer just because the owner wants to spend. my conclusion.... The Angels aren't as much of a favorite as we think. I think Bauer is the one player that doesn't only care about who offers the most money, but the structure of the organization and so on. In order for the Angels to be chosen by him I really think they need to wow him within the next few days by trading for someone like Gray, Castillo or Marquez or Contreras. Yes they are expensive prospect options but I think even Bauer knows he alone won't fix the Angels. They need to wow him like the Padres and Mets have done so far and show him they're going for it.
  18. Angels gunna hop on this transaction train tomorrow or what?
  19. Goodluck to him ever getting what he was offered this year again. He'll then be 32 years old and betting on himself to do excellent in Japan 2021. I have this gut feeling the Angels will either underwhelm by doing exactly that OR buy over spending of Bauer because Arte didn't want to whiff a 4th year in a row for a #1 guy. I'd be completely shell shocked if we go into the 2021 season extremely excited about our rotation and it being talked about as one of the best....
  20. Yup. Although i'd downplay it a little and say the remaining solid options are Bauer, Gray, Marquez and Castillo. Maybe the Angels get creative in their own weird and sometimes annoying way and trade for a guy that isn't in all the rumors. To me, Odorizzi, Tanaka and especially Musgrove don't make me get excited at all. I'm just tired of "middle rotation" type guys. It hasn't worked. I still want Bauer and Castillo. But yes, I know Castillo would be extremely pricey with prospects.
