  1. Alright, SJW. I understand each player plays an individual part in what the overall outcome looks like. Certain players (Quintana, Cobb) come in to help solidify a piece where the Angels needed to get better (Being depth). All i'm saying is at the end of the day I see roughly the same outcome and I hope they prove me wrong.
  2. Sure call me guilty, but at the end of the day it's about overall result. Individual stats don't mean anything unless the finished product is where we want to be. Trout has 3 MVP's. It's incredible that he's won them, but they don't mean much to the team if they aren't playing in October. Maybe our floor is more solidified. Again, that's great. But from a perspective where Arte and company has admitted this offseason things need to change and that they feel it "everyday" about winning for Trout, it's kind of a shame. I understand the issues for it. Financially they're tied with two bad contract (Pujols and Upton). I know the prospect capital isn't there.... yet. We can look at individual numbers all we want, but the end result will likely be high-scoring games again where we hope the offense will carry us over. Sure, we might take the division, but it might become a quick exit for us when we stack up against other playoff teams. Again, another year in question.
  3. We had the second worst SP ERA last year. The floor was raised, yes, but damn it's got a long way to go. Still could use the top pitcher added to balance it out better
  4. 10000000000% yes. I've been saying this all along. All teams that make deep playoff runs have an extremely good rotation. You're right, Angels just seem plain lost. They've tried the last 3 years to go after ace pitchers but have always fallen back on 1yr deals. Same goes for this year. The difference? Apparently from the start we weren't thinking about getting Bauer at all. Here we are again with the one year deals. Angels really hoping they can win games again 6-5.... So far, it hasn't worked.
  5. 2 things.... 1: His source is Maria Torres 2: "spend resources to improve multiple parts".... ummm.... yeah stud rotation.... NOT
  6. Even Arte has wanted to spend less on pitching over the years 2019: $19M 2020: $14M 2021: $13M just thought this was funny
  7. Maybe they see Cobb as potential for better season that might match or be better than Heaney. Plus, Heaney has much more value than Cobb did and the Angels might think they can now flip him + prospects to save money but get someone good in return.
  8. They Already need to trade someone. As it stands it looks like: Bundy, Heaney, Quintana, Canning, Cobb, Ohtani, Barria/Sandoval.
  9. Watch Arte pull out of the trade, fire Callaway then sign Bauer.
  10. Yeah I could see it happening but more-so with just Contreras. If rumors are true that we're still looking for catching and that we've been linked to Contreras then I could see it working. The Cubs have already lost Darvish, Quintana, Chatwood and Lester and I don't think they'll lose Hendricks. He's on a team friendly deal only making $14M guaranteed for 3 more years. Cubs need pitching. Heaney could be a one year fill in for them. Angels now solidify their catching position but DAMN does our rotation look like shit....
  11. Cubs have one of the worst rotations now so this idea makes 100% sense. Although maybe just Contreras.
  12. There's gotta be another trade coming after this. Let's say the Angels only pay about $5M for him. I wonder if Heaney could be dealt in a package deal with one of Adell/Marsh/Adams for someone of really good value that puts the team over the top. Angels would actually be taking roughly $1.75M off their payroll if they can trade Heaney away and only pay Cobb $5M. Just a thought. I just can't see this being the final rotation. At all.
  13. Yeah I wonder if this opens up a trade involving a pitcher + one of Adell/Marsh/Adams. I just worry who that pitcher would be that we'd trade if we were to get another arm. It'd have to be the perfect return if Canning is involved. He's young, cost controlled and has great years ahead of him. It'd be completely dumb to assume Cobb fills his spot for him to be delt for another arm. Even if it's for someone like Marquez. I'd rather have Marquez and Canning in the rotation vs Marquez and Cobb who will be gone after the season.
  14. What i've been saying all along man.... Second worst is second worst. Period.
  15. The only reason I said "aside from Teheran" is cuz the boneheads on AW went all snowflakey in the beginning of year trying to justify the only reason why the Angels had the second worst ERA was because of Teheran.
  16. If we get Odorizzi then someone has to be trade bait for something. Bundy, Odorizzi, Heaney, Quintana, Canning, Cobb, Ohtani, Sandoval/Barria
  17. Aside from Teheran, wasn't the pitching ERA around 4.5? Not buying it.
  18. Also one of the hardest hit guys. Going right past the infield
  19. I'll believe it when I see it. I'd love to be proven wrong but can't judgment till the on-field results change.
  20. We're becoming WAY to optimistic about these pitchers the Angels always get. Over the last few years it's been Lincecum, Harvey, Cahill, Teheran and Bundy. Only ONE of those guys has panned out. We need to stop fooling ourselves into thinking guys like Cobb and others are what we need. It hasn't been in the past and it isn't for the future.
  21. I would too especially since he's controllable. Marquez/Canning/Ohtani atop the 2022 rotation looks funs.
