  1. What do you all think?

Bundy has interest from the Braves in August and could help solidify their young rotation.

Marsh is from Georgia and could all to their future outfield potential.

Braves could use money saved from moving Inciarte to make other moves.

Angels gain years of control of two starting pitchers while taking on Inciarte who could help in the outfield.

    Add in the Minasian ties.

i was thinking more like implicated as having some knowledge that he was perhaps using them or something... but id like to think thats not the case.

That’s more of what I was thinking.

This situation just seems so out of nowhere, out of nowhere reasons come to mind.

  3. I think as a whole, it is accurate that the players do care. But the game I went to in Oakland on 9/4 made it seem that they have games they do stop caring about.

After being down 0-4 after the 5th, the team lost all energy and their body language seemed like they were already defeated. That they just wanted the game to be over with already. No fight after that.

I'm a bit concerned, as I've said before - certainly more concerned than some of the other thread regulars. Most of the better position player prospects have either stagnated or taken a step back this year. I think we need to accept the likelihood that we had overly inflated expectations last year. Last year it looked like a farm on the cusp of the top ten in all of baseball, now it looks closer to #20 than #10.

Without Adell, our farm is very underwhelming in the sense of having prospects that will be, instead of might be. And I know technically all prospects are might bes, but y’all should know what I mean.

Here’s a break down of 50 grade or above prospects per team according to MLB.com:

    ARI (16) - 55 (4), 50 (12)

    ATL (10) - 60 (1), 55 (4), 50 (5)

I think if they buy, it’ll be one of three things:

    • a really cheap rental for the half-season. Tanner Roark/Jordan Lyles, for a Brennon Lund or Franklin Torres or Cristopher Molina. Someone they may have already anticipated pursuing this winter.
    • an arm with at least ‘20 controlled, likely past that, who is completely unexpected and not really discussed
    • one of the frequently discussed arms - Boyd, Stroman, et al. - for a price that winds up being far more palatable than expected, and likely with some plans to offer a big extension this winter.

I get what you’re saying @Dochalo about a trade supplementing whoever they sign as a FA, but I think it’s just as realistic they trade first, and then assess who to sign after. There will be a lot more variability in their FA possibilities than the trade market. Eppler doesn’t seem to want to rely on FA that much. I think he’d rather build a safety net via trade first. It allows him to pay a price he wants now rather than being backed into a FA corner or risking a team holding high demands knowing the Angels fell short in Gerrit Cole/others pursuits.

And it just so happens to help the team make a playoff push now, and give them a morale boost.

I like the idea of targeting the Reds for the first and second option. Roark would be a decent relatively inexpensive rental to pick up, or maybe someone like Mahle for long term. Local kid, bad era so may l come relatively cheap, but he’s young, has decent stuff, and his FIP and xFIP look good.

I wouldn't do it.  No guarantee that he would be better than Suarez and hes controllable for two more years than Syndergaard at least.

In general I am against most trades that deplete the talent, but at least for someone like Syndergaard you are getting controllable years.

Any trades that are just aimed at this year would be a serious mistake IMO.  Angels are behind 4 teams for the second WC spot, and just don't have the pitching to match up in the playoffs.  Can't get to where they would need to be with just one pitcher.

Nothing is guaranteed. But I think we can agree it is significantly more likely that Syndergaard will be better. He is also more marketable.
