    That 14 million needs to be spent on the best free agent starting pitching we can get. Goodwin is a good placeholder in right field until Adell takes over. Unfortunately, it would not surprise me if the option was picked up, and we once again went dumpster diving for starting pitching.

    SD is my second team and I'm devastated to see Reyes go. From what I've read, the Padres wanted their future center fielder, more lefties in the lineup (including Josh Naylor in LF), and more OBP/speed for the top of the order. Future lineup could look something like this: 1. Trammell CF (L), 2. Tatis Jr SS (R), 3. Machado 3B (R), 4. Hosmer 1B (L), 5. Renfroe RF (R), 6. Naylor LF (L), 7. Urias 2B (R), 8. Mejia (S), 9. Pitcher

    We have plenty of quality infielders. Fletcher and Rengifo deserve to be in the majors, La Stella is an impact bat (hopefully not a fluke), Thaiss and Ward have potential to be big league contributors soon . . . Simmons is a great player, but for us, he's expendable. I would definitely explore trading him for starting pitching.

    I've moved on. I thought after the Dodger series we would have extended the winning streak to 11 before the deadline. Now it looks like going 4-3 for the homestand is a pipe dream.
