goldenGlove got a reaction from Taylor in Gameday: Jun 10th Dodgers vs Angels
Had a great time at the game! What a game it was. Trout is greatness, even Dodger fans were taking videos of him at-bat. As soon as I saw Kelly warming up, I said “winning time” haha
love beating LA in our own house, gtfo here doyers!!!

We've all been saying the same thing since he was drafted in 2017. That's a pretty solid observation too.

goldenGlove got a reaction from Lou in Your most unpopular Angels take?
I’d say mine is that I’ve never really liked Skaggs. Never really believed in him or thought he would live up to his potential

goldenGlove reacted to Blarg in Trout
Mookie Betts has come back to earth and is playing closer to career averages, excluding last season. This is what Trout is up against every season for MVP, that one guy that puts in a career year. Outside of those two seasons where Cabrera was outstanding, there hasn't been anyone repeating their MVP season other than Trout. He is unquestionably the best player in baseball, he's just not always beating out the best fluke year of anyone in baseball any given year.
This year I don't think there will be anyone catching Trout unless he misses a significant part of the year. Certainly not Mookie Betts, he currently trails David Fletcher in fWar.

goldenGlove got a reaction from Slegnaac in How Often Do You Wear Your Angels Cap?
I wear the CA hats exclusively; '47 and new era release nice CA hats so I usually buy a new one 1-2 times a year. I wear caps when I'm too lazy to do my hair haha

goldenGlove reacted to Blarg in Silver Lining - Luis Rengifo
The last 18 games Pujols is hitting 279/.355/.544/.899
LaStella in the last 25 is hitting 358/.393/.500/.893
For once we have all sorts of good to choose from.

goldenGlove reacted to Second Base in Silver Lining - Luis Rengifo
If he keeps performing like this, it'll be very interesting to see what happens when Simmons arrives off the DL. You obviously can't bench Simmons, one of the best hitters on the team and beat defensive SS on the planet. But you can't bench Rengifo when he's getting on base at a .400+ clip. But you also can't bench Fletcher when he's hitting over .300 and is the hardest hitter in baseball to strike out. You can't bench La Stella who is suddenly a .290 30 HR hitter.
I'm thinking that's when Albert's at bats will dry up. La Stella will move to 1B, Rengifo at 2B, Simmons at short and Fletch at 3B.

It's too bad Dipoto can't also be the GM of the Rangers.

goldenGlove got a reaction from Taylor in Mike Trout
On May 11th, Mike Trout went 0-5, dropping him to a season low .271 AVG and season low .447 OBP. In 18 games since (not including his big game today), he has hit: .323/.488/.710 with 6 HR, 18 BB, 15 SO
Sweet!

goldenGlove reacted to totdprods in Exciting and Interesting Times
I've felt great ever since we started winning the second half of April, following that awful stretch we had against Texas, Seattle, and the Yankees. The offense has been solid for nearly two months now, without Upton or Ohtani, and I knew sooner or later we would see the pitching start to improve, either by way of the kids, vets returning to health, or garbage being DLed/DFAed.
It's great seeing the youth get so much playing time. This year is a transition year, or at least that's what I had hoped, and currently, with so many kids being promoted and playing well, that seems to be the case. I don't know how the year will end, but I'm not unhappy right now.

goldenGlove reacted to T.G. in Exciting and Interesting Times
This season has been interesting and exciting on many levels.
First we had the changing of the guard with Brad Ausmus becoming the manager. Like him or not - he's doing things differently and we're seeing a different brand/style of baseball from him.
Then there's the influx of young talent coming up from the minor leagues. I don't think any of us are used to seeing the volume of young guys coming up to step in and actually get playing time. You know the names... The results are still to be determined - but the direction is looking promising. There's optimism for sure and there's definitely excitement. And then there's the stories. The stories behind guys like Walsh, Puello, etc. and their path to the bigs. Then you add in the surprises like Goodwin and La Stella... Again - these are interesting times for sure.
AND... there's more to come. JC Ramirez is on rehab assignment. J-Up is getting closer.
How are you guys feeling?

goldenGlove reacted to Second Base in Suarez recalled to start Sunday
Very young, short, stocky lefty, throws 93-94. Good breaking ball and change up. Misses a ton of bats.

I think people that are down on Adams maybe aren't seeing the big picture. It's the same with people hating on Maitan. There is just really no DEFINITIVE word you can get on a player in A Ball, unless it's an absolutely dominant or horrible performance for a prolonged period of time. Jordyn Adams and Kevin Maitan are both one of the youngest players in the league, and for their first 6 weeks of A Ball, they haven't been amazing the way Adell was.
Now if these guys are 21 and still haven't figured out high A ball, then it's time to start panicking given their pedigree.
Just be patient.

Since May 10th, Adams is slashing .303/.333/.500/.833 with a reasonable .347 BAbip.
In that time, four doubles, three HRs, 2 BB, 14 K in 16 G/69 PA. Pretty encouraging for one of the youngest players in the Midwest League.
Also, Simmons made 28 errors in one of his seasons in the lower-levels. Fields are a mess and conditions vary greatly, your teammates aren't always the best, and you're still really young and aggressive...I wouldn't read too much into errors or fielding percentages, especially for teenagers and especially in the lower-leagues.

Those numbers are inflated due to the PCL. If he were in the Majors it'd probably only be an ERA of 37.00, WHIP of 5.50 and H/9 of 40.0

Love early weekday games! Makes work so much better haha. I predict Canning strikes out the side in the 1st
Side note: whenever I see the name Cesar Puello, for some reason I hear Super Pollo, pretty good Mexican food in Costa mesa not far from where I grew up
