Vlad27Trout27 got a reaction from ettin in AngelsWin.com Today: Angelswin.com 2018 Primer Series: Eppler’s Strategy Part II
I agree with both parts and also don't get the fact why people are down on Skaggs. So far i would say he's had a nice career a bit the injury hurt, i personally think that theirs still a lot of potential left in him.

I'll venture a guess and say if Shoe and Skaggs pitch up to their ability, we'll be in the playoffs next year. I feel Richards and Heaney will be solid as well.
I know lots of folks think Eppler is crazy for not making pitching a priority (particularly MLBTR), but I think if they knew how good our injured starters are, they'd understand.
In my opinion, if we get a good, steady 1B, a solid 2B and a platoon bat with Valbuena at 3B, we'll be a very good team. Trout, Upton and Simmons are a good place to start.

Vlad27Trout27 got a reaction from ettin in Angels Pursuing Ohtani
From fletcher last tweet it looks like we may bring ohtani in to pitch and hit. I could see a 3 way platoon for 1st and DH, also on certain days( when Richards or another groundball pitcher is pitching) i can see Ohtani in the outfilder to give rest to either Upton/ Calhoun. From what i'm hearing is that he's looking at about 200-250 ab's per season so roughly 50 games.
if my math is correct-
1st half of the season- 2nd half-
1st- 10 games 10 games
Dh- 10 games 10 games
Rf/Lf - 5 games 5 games so total depending on the amount of bats - 50 games ( 200-250 abs)
this also doen't limit the Ab for Pujols, Cron, Upton and Calhoun. also looks like Pujols may play more 1st next season probably 20-25 games.

for a guys that's giving up millions of dollars, 1-mil wouldn't be a big difference for him. I think he's mostly looking for a team that will allow him to be a 2-way player and a place that he feels comfortable in. which is the main reason that i think we have a chance, with heavy Japaneses community it could help.

Vlad27Trout27 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Angels Acquire RHP Jim Johnson
Ooh wow, this definitely is sign that we are going after ohtani. Yes, I know about the braves kids as Well but we can spend next year's bonus on them aswell.

Vlad27Trout27 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Yusmeiro Petit in agreement with Athletics
interesting that we didn't sign him especially for that price. It could also mean that billy and co could be going after Minor, Davis or Morrow. But really surprised that we didn't sign him.

I'd say bring back EYJ, loved his attitudes in the clubhouse, sign JJ as a backup ss/2nd base, Let coward and valbumea fight for 3rd, depending on what billy's plan is at catcher, id stick with juan or sign a lefty offensive minded catcher as a backup to Maldonado.

Nate Smith + Jose Rodriguez to the Marlins for intl money about 1-1.2 mil? Or any team. Than trade the players we drafted in the rule 5 for anything we can get.

Oh i definitely think that Arte going to make a pitch to Trout after he retires. Also another think to consider is, the type of money a player wants depends on their own personalities or ways. We have guys that just care about money ( Greinke), we also have guys that take less money and care about winning ( Weaver/Upton). To me Trout fits the second group of guys and at the end of the career he'll get the money and also hopefully win something with us. 8- 10 yrs for 175-235.

Vlad27Trout27 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in AngelsWin.com Today: Angelswin.com 2018 Primer Series: Corner Infield
I think what's going to happen is that Billy Keeps valbuena and Marte paired at third, than once our prospects gain more respect following the year, we'll make a trade to get a 3rd baseman. For example, a guy like Hermosillo + Gatto for Jake lamb.

I think it could have been both, i'm kind of leaning towards roster. They had a good lineup but had no Bullpen at all, Rotation only had 2 solid starters, while rest were declining.

I think we'll see 2 kept with us and one traded away. one to replace Calhoun and the other for LF after moving Uptoon to DH.

Vlad27Trout27 got a reaction from ettin in The Official Los Angeles Angels 2017 Minor League Statlines & Prospects thread
Hi, so it looks like BA is starting there yearly top 10 prospects for every time team. We still a long way out, until they do the top 10 for us. anyways, i wanted to a quick overview/ analysis on a few prospects that have caught my attention this past year.
Before i start, i want to let you guys know that i am no scout, most of this information i get is reading from multiple scouting reports and listening to pod cast over a few years.
1. The first prospect that caught my attention has to be Jones. it wasn't the early struggles or the hot streak that caught my attention. It was his ability to make adjustments, to work on his loop holes ( such as the breaking balls). at a such a young age and the having the ability to adjust will help him on the long range. I've heard people say that he strikes out a bit, but i think as he starts to see more pitches he'll be able to recognize them better, i think his strike- walk rate was 2:1, compared to Kyle Tucker 2:1, Acuna has a 3:1 rate.
Predictions 2018- Should play about 70% of games at AA. Comp- Lorenzo Cain/ Raja Davis.
Hits- 55 Power 45 Run- 65 Patience 50 Arm 50 Filed 60 Overall 55 ( and Improving)
2. If your mashing it like Marsh did this past season, You know your catching on to people eyes. This is what Marsh did and did he fill the score sheet up, 22 XBH in 39 games. From the scouting reports, it looks as like he know the strike join really well and can pick the best pick to hit. The Speed and Power are truly intriguing and if he can develop all of his tools, we are looking at a special 5 tool player.
Predictions- Starts at (A), goes up to (A adv) and if he stays healthy i see him in a few games at (AA).
Hits- 55 power 55 Run 60 Patience-40? Arm 60 Filed 60 Overall 55 ( If he can put up similar number at A adv he's a 60)
3. When you go from the low 90s to the high 90 at 19 you know you have a high ceiling. That was the case for the 6"3 168 Jose Soriano. He is still very young and raw but has the chance to over take Crod has our best pitching prospect. With a plus plus fastball and curve that rates as a an 50 grade pitch (chance to develop into a plus pitch) only pitch that still needs to improve is his change up. the strikeout rate needs to improve but the G.O. rate is really good.
Predictions- Stay at orem, eventually goes to (A)
Fastball- 65 Curve- 50 Change- 50 Control- 50 overall 50
4. Chris Rodriguez: the numbers at first do not look good at all. But there are a few intriguing numbers to look at 2 hrs allowed against competition older than him, 14 BB and 56 k in 57 inning and 1.47 G.O/ A.O. These numbers remind be of a former prospect....... Mike Clevinger. If he can work out at smoothing his delivery he should be able to follow the same path as Cleavinger.
Prediction- stays at (A), goes to (A adv) and depening on the year he may end up at (AA).
Fastball- 60 Curve- 50 Slider- 50 Change- 50 Control 55 overall 50
5. The Surprise: The surprising prospect for next year is going to be Jesus Castillo. Do not be surprised if he's knocking on the door sometimes next year, at 6"2 and 165 Ib there still improvements coming, as we saw with his fastball jumping up to 93 and his body his reaching the age with it should be fully developed. the final product should be a guy that adds about 15 pounds and shows a fastball that hit 94/95 with a plus change and good curve. He reminds be of Jose de leon, I don't see Castillo having the front-line ceiling but i see him as an inning eater 3 that has a few season similar to a decent 2.
predictions- Sept- call up
Fastball- 55 (60 if body fills out) Curve- 50 Change- 60 Control 60 overall- 55

Wouldn't mind us getting Thairo Estrada or Domingo Acevedo. Estrada is only 21 and at (AA), Acevedo at (AAA) and i see him either in the rotation or Bullpen.

If the price falls to about 12-15 mil per year, i'd sign him, even if its cost us a pick.
3 yrs, 44 mil?

Vlad27Trout27 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Angels off-season plans/prediction
Hi guys, so this my first post here. it finally looks like this slow off-season is heating up with the marlins and Red Sox. well lets get back to the topic, this topic is mostly going discuss potential moves the angels can make and my/ yours guys own opinions, so let get on it.
-First thing i want to start on is the Starting Pitcher. is it just me or is Eppler to relaxed on adding a starter to the rotation. Personally, i feel as if he has something already layered out and could surprise us. one of these being Otani, yes i know that we only have 150k to spend but we can trade up to a amount that can get otani, Two reason i believe this could happened, 1. this is a heavily Japanese/ Chinese community and could help with the transition 2. he can make up the lost money thru endorsement/commercials...etc. I also Know the fact that he wants to hit and pitch, but i think theirs to much of a risk for a pitcher with his ceiling to go out their and hit or run on the base paths. last thing, the dodgers as well have a similar or greater chance to sign him.
- We finally figured out left field with Upton. io think it was good contract and could be a bargain
- most important position to fill out now is 2nd Base. Three guys that i'm interested in the trade market are Cesar, Panik, Gordon.
out of these three i'm wary about Gordon, due to the fact that he's on the wrong side of 30 and speed guys do not do well over 30 ( Figgins). Panik and Cesar's price tags may be a bit high.
so trade proposal- Samadaza and 30 mil for next 3 years, + Panik, for Ward and Smith/ Morales , Lund
yes like really Samadaza, but if you look at his fip and xfip last 3 years he's around a 3.50-3.60 guys with a good g.o rate and at 10 mil per year for the next 3 years is good price.
last thing the Bp- i think we should let petit walk and go hard after Minor to fill that dominant Lefty role, than sign a few failed starters to a minor league contracts' Santiago, Sanchez or Bucholez(?) and hope one becomes the next Morrow or Norris.
Also an interesting idea that i taught of. The consideration of moving thesis over to 3rd. I figured since he was catcher he's probably has a strong arms to adjust to 3rd. The only question is the power. for me i think he's a Alsonso/ Loney kind of ceiling and maybe alternating his launch angel could help with the power.
