  1. How Many Friends - Another very angry Pete song, masqueraded by the soft instrumentals and Roger's incredible voice There is no other band I can think of where the lead singer sang such personal lyrics penned by someone else. Such an interesting dynamic.
  2. There might have been a more bitter man than the mid 1970's Pete Townshend, but I am not sure anything more bitter came out in lyrics ("They're All in Love") Hey, goodbye all you punks Stay young and stay high Hand me my checkbook And I'll crawl out to die But like a woman in childbirth Grown ugly in a flash I'm seen magic and fame Now I'm recycling trash
  3. CJ Wilson tipped his hat to Peavy for the extended start.
  4. These would NOT make my top three, but here's a few great ones: Entwistle's: My Wife - from Who's Next. Catchy, witty.. it is a great song. "Had Enough" (written by Entwistle) - one of the last hard rock songs - a bit reminicsent of "515" or "Won't Get Fooled Again".... I really like it. "Acid Queen" - I just love Townshend's singing voice. It isn't great by any means, but so much character. This is a great song.
  5. I honestly look forward to each episode on thursdays more than I did Christmas morning when I was a kid (we got crappy presents). In a nutshell: *Baltimore high school 1999 *A popular boy, from Pakistan, Adnan is dating a Korean girl. Both second generation. Parents of both kids don't want them dating. *She breaks it off winter of their senior year. Typical hs romance and breakup (we hear readings from her diary) *She is murdered after school one winter day. *Ex boyfriend, Adnan is main suspect. A stoner friend of his totally implicates him. *Stoner friend's story has plenty of holes in it. However, Adnan cannot account for himself that afternoon to police. *Each episode, you are thinking, "it has to be him". Then, you hear other stuff, and you think, "he didn't do it. *Adnan is in jail. The NPR reporter does tons of jailhouse phone interviews with him. Each episode lasts about 40 minutes. It is REALLY good.
  6. If disliking that POS youtube makes me a gaybasher, then so be it.
  7. ^^^^^ sounds bogus. Did that come from your actual fb?
  8. The Royals will have played four of the ten teams in the playoffs this year.
  9. They are starting to infect the next generation. First, I see this. Of course, the hens love it... I agree!!!!! Then, the dagger: I'm making this into a tee shirt for Girl Scouts Of course, the hens love this.. I want 2.... Love it I wear an adult small
  10. I worked a 4 hour shift at the bbq/snack shack for my kid's pony ball years ago. That was real work.... and no AW breaks.
  11. Jeezus man, $300+ for 6 year old LL.... where is that money going?
  12. AO, how about "Nash Hamilton", in a hat tip to another overpaid, former MVP has-been who comes to "LA" for a final paycheck.
  13. Yeah, with Dennis Harrah as co owner in the 1990s, it certainly had a Magnum vibe. It had a big fire a few years ago, and it came back pretty updated. Very airy, and the ceilings are high beam wood - looks pretty good. Instead of a more NFL-centric memorabilia look in the 1990s, the memorabilia is now 50-50 pro sports/Long Beach State sports. (AO boner alert) I am not going to my grave saying its the best in the world. But it looks and feels good. Not cheezy like the pics of OC Grill.
  14. It is closed. I had gone to Yankee Doodles back in the day. Then, about three years ago, my son had a swim meet at belmont pool, we had some free time, and I suggested to my wife we go to Yankee Doodles. We walked in, and it was kind of a bar, but they were playing synth music, and all the tvs had beach scenes and such. No sports on the tvs. Its now closed, or something entirely different. "Dexter" killed someone in the alley next to Yankee Doodles.
  15. No Yankees or Red Sox in the playoffs. That makes these excellent playoffs.
  16. Having never gone in there, I can't vouch for the food or service... but I like Jay's point... other than Angels games, it doesn't look like its close to anything. For the record, I was at Legends on Second Street in Belmont on Sat. Place looks better than ever and I've been going there 25 years.
  17. I am beginning to think that sports bars near the stadium aren't a big hit. If you can't make it during football season, then forget it.
  18. Arte just found his #1 offseason target. HOT STOVE ACTION! Joe Sheehan on James Shields: -- James Shields is a free agent after the season. Forget last night or any of the other poor starts in this postseason -- I would not touch him. Shields' primary traits are durability and the ability to throw strikes. That's a good pitcher to have around, someone worth signing as a #3 for #3 years and money -- Edwin Jackson's 4/52 contract, adjusted for inflation, perhaps. Shields, however, continues to be lumped in with Max Scherzer and Jon Lester, pitchers who can front good teams' rotations. If it takes a five-year deal, if it takes $20 million per, I want no part of Shields. He's spent the last seven years of his career pitching in terrific environments for pitchers -- great parks, great defenses -- and I don't want to pay to see what happens when he leaves those.
