This is exactly the type of deal the Angels should NOT offer Snell, in my opinion. There's zero upside in this deal for the Angels.

No plausible moves or acquisitions out there could make them competitive, therefore their best chance lies with them getting the worst possible record.
Trout and Ren-done are sadly untradable but it's unlikely for us to be competitive until both those contracts are up
This has been the best off-season in recent times.   If they want to take a step backwards we can sign Snell this weekend and finish with 76 wins instead of 71 wins in 2024

Adding a couple of good players really doesn’t interrupt “letting the young guys develop.”  More leadership/experience around them, and winning more games also helps players develop into the right kind of players.

If it is the first year opt out that Moreno refuses to give, I understand that.
Would already lose a pick to sign Snell.
Then doubling down by giving an opt out after 2024, when at this rate he won’t debut until late April?

Fair point. But I would qualify it with this: I’m not sure teams are going to pay the steep asking price for Snell or Montgomery even with an injury. Clevenger or Lorenzen might be more likely to benefit.🤷‍♂️

What was said is if Davis becomes a free agent he’d choose to go to a team where he would play. Right now he’s in the waiver process which means he could be claimed (probably will be claimed) by a team and hopefully it’s the Angels.
