Come back with slot (take it or leave it offer).
If he goes to school we get two 5th round picks next year, right?
This only applies to 1st and 2nd rounders. 3-40 is a "sign or lose it" proposition.

I don't know Jeff. I've spent some time in The southern Alabama area. They have some rocking fried catfish and hush puppies. And it was 20 years ago, a pretty cool cover duo at a bar catering to older folks. They'd be about 70 now...but I bet they can still bring it.
Or, what you said.
THIS is the type of hard-hitting reporting I come to this site for.

I am with you. I think that relievers are overvalued in this market, and Bedrosian should be able to fetch us what I think we all really want: a freaking decent second baseman and probably one with 4+ years of control.
-
Serious question: If you found out that Eppler was just acquiring players based solely on how much their names sounded like innuendo, you'd still take him above Dipoto, right? Plus, there is a decent chance that "Buster Posey" would be a trade target.

I'd like Tanner Houck, and I also wouldn't mind Randall Romero (assuming you clear him psychologically). I'm going to be cheering for Michael Gigliotti, as I am Lipscomb Alumn and it's wicked cool to see a player that has a chance to be a top-20 pick (though 10 is probably too high for him, sadly). I think the Angels are in a great position, because I think that if the draft goes chalk then they should have some good hitters there for the taking, and if the hitters go a little early one of the great group of pitchers could fall to them. While I think we'd all love a Majors-ready pitcher to come in and be our #3 starter next year, we aren't a good enough system yet to be that choosy.
When your worst-case scenario is "one of a great group of college pitching," the Angels are in a great position to strike on Draft day.
Also: If we don't draft "Brock Deatherage" in the 2nd round, I am going to lose my faith in humanity. That is a terrific name.

Did anybody really think that Richards would be healthy?
Yup. Sure did. Still do, actually.

Exactly. You can't force a nickname.
One of the security guys I occasionally have to work with is an asshole of the highest stripe, and the signature on his email has his nickname "papa bear" on it. Nobody has ever called him that. It's forced. It's his "fetch."
Point is, your nickname finds you. "Papa bear" should really go by "asshole."
You should convince EVERYONE you work with to start calling someone else "Papa Bear." He deserves to be "T-Boned."

The obvious answer is Mikey T.

Not with his turning 35 next season; it's fine having him in 2016-17, but it's time to think long term (like Mike Moustakas) after 2017.
Hackilton's, Escobar's, and Street's contracts ($42 million AAV) will be off of the books by then.
+1 for using the possessive case with the Gerund.

You must be the optimist around here.

I probably am miss remembering, but I think my first thought about this trade was, "That price sounds about right," and was upgraded to. "We definitely got the best of this deall." About a month before this trade, I read a bunch of stuff talking about how Simmons wasn't just the best defender in baseball, he was the best by a fair margin. When I looked into his offensive numbers and I realized that there was a chance he could end up on the positive side of the ledger there-- and that his contract was just flipping fantastic-- I was happy. I hated to see Newcomb go-- I still think there is a really, really good pitcher there-- but Simmons was always going to be a plus player even if he didn't hit a lick.

Scioscia.... just when I think it's time to move on, you open up this season a solid as ever, and then you say the one thing that I've always wanted to hear a manager say: "I am not limiting my best reliever to the 9th inning." Add in the fact that the Maldanado move-- which may be the most Scioscia move in the history of the Majors-- seems to be coming up aces, and... well, all I can say is you are too hard to quit.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The dems were attacking Jeff Sessions in the wrong way. Instead of trying to make him look like he was the leader of the KKK (which was always a shoddy argument anyway), they should have just said that he's a moron-- which has the benefit of being true.

I can confidently say they will win 5 games.

And then there's us, AngelsWin. I try to combine upside, proximity, performance, hype and most importantly, my own observations. Then we all put our heads together and a conglomerate list is created. I think the best way to describe us is comprehensive with a touch of optimism. We catch the ones others didn't, while also paying homage to both upside and proximity. It's isn't perfect, our optimism hurts our reputation, but it also is what keeps us doing what we do.
.... I thought you were going by sex appeal this whole time!

1B Lee Stevens, Casey Kotchman, Jim Eppard

SS Brandon Wood, Gus Polidor
3B Dallas McPherson/George Arias

C: Jeff Mathis, John Orton, Jorge Fabregas, Hank Conger, Todd Greene
DH: Eduardo Perez, Danny Goodwin
P: Kyle Abbott, Pete Janicki, Willie Fraser, Joe Torres, Chris Bootcheck, Seth Etherton, Jonathan Bachanov, Trevor Bell, Tyler Kehrer, Trevor Reckling
Chevy Clarke? Does he really qualify? Maybe I am forgetting, but wasn't he a "below Slot" draftee and not really considered a first round talent?
Also: Man, I was CONVINCED that Dick B. Wood was an all-star, McPherson would hit 40 Bombs, and that Reckling would be a #3 starter.

Why is Ricky Nolasco in every damn picture? Did he know there was a camera there?
-
9. The only reason it isn't higher is that it's baseball. For all we know, Nolasco, Shoemaker, Skaggs, and Chavez could all have sub-3.50 ERAs and remain healthy all year, while Richards wins the Cy Young. Dumber things have happened.
-
I really, really hope Campos can get and stay healthy enough to take a late-inning role as a reliever. The one hole in this off season has been the lack of a late inning reliever. A healthy Campos could more than fill that need.

There was also the time Reagins whiffed on Carl Crawford and Adrian Beltre and traded for Wells. It was pretty quiet
other than that.unless you count all of the wailing and gnashing of teeth that would result from that trade.FIFY.

I kind of hope "Jelfry" Marte is just Jeffry trying to get paid.
