    I just noticed that Bryce Harper’s lifetime OPS is now almost the same as Pujols’ lifetime OPS. Harper .915 Pujols .919 Pujols is now #42 lifetime on OPS and now also almost tied with Jason Giambi at .916. I know “baseball history” doesn’t give a rats ass about lifetime OPS. But watching this particular number is a pretty honest look at his decline during this uber selfish period of his career where he is chasing 700.

    Nice read but I think the comment that Arte is pretty bad about “staying focused on pitching” is that tired narrative that doesn’t actually pass the reality test. Arte has aggressively pursued premium pitching. Only one team gets a player and the Angels have recently been among the other 29 teams that don’t get that particular stud pitcher. That has nothing to do with the owner “not staying focused.”

    The project is to end up with a top heavy rotation. Once you have that, then you need depth. I don’t see Cobb as a solution for the top half of the rotation and the Angels have many other options for depth. Pass.

Is it ever going to occur to you that people post on message boards as openly sharing their opinions and thoughts rather than campaigning for agreement?     I get it. I just find his answers and comments to often be an eye roller where there is a small element of self promotion. If he wants to actually BE sophisticated, his answer would have been better than that.
