Ace-Of-Diamonds got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Gameday Thread: 8/21 Yankees @ Angels 12:35
Cowart line drive to deep CF in first AB and 2B hit to left center field in second AB. Good for him.

I thought you were talking about Jackie from that 70s show.

Escobar is a good to very good hitter and that's all. He can't field, he can't throw accurately, he isn't a smart base runner, he has no power. He is on the wrong side of 30, he will make some team a good DH. If we can't trade him for a couple of very good prospects, I suspect he will be here for 1 more year, maybe 1/2 year, if we can trade him in late July. He is going to be a free agent in 1 more year and I don't see us resigning him after that.

If I had a boat like that I would give up baseball.

If we lose today, and Reds, Rays, and Dbacks win, we will have the third worst record in baseball all by ourselves.

Ace-Of-Diamonds got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Embrace the losing
Like I posted in an earlier thread 3 of the 5 top Free Agents OFers of off season were a bust this year. They were not much of an upgrade with the bat to the scrubs we played in LF. Only 1 of the 5 showed any power. That being Cespedes with 22 HRs. Rumors I'm been hearing are, he will most likely opt out of contract with the Mets and once again test free agency. We will have more money this year to sign free agents with the loss of Weaver and CJ. The new CBA will in all probability raise the the Tax threshold as well. Next year Hamilton comes off the books so if Arte is truly a man of his word he could exceed the tax threshold for 1 year and still get under the following year.

Nolasco vs. Felix, an almost guaranteed eleventh straight loss

Ace-Of-Diamonds got a reaction from Troll Daddy in Cron and Meyer Rehabbing
I wasn't completely opposed to the trade. I wrote this soon after the trade in the Santiago thread about the trade.
Eppler traded Hector for Alex Meyer, they made him take Nolasco as part of the deal or they would not do the trade. Meyer was a top prospect as little as 2 years ago. He has had shoulder issues and he is a little wild but his upside is a top of the rotation type starter. Eppler called it a gamble with a high reward for a 1 1/2 of Santiago.

Ace-Of-Diamonds got a reaction from Angel Oracle in [Link]: Anaheim: A Less than Desirable Situation
Going over the threshold this year wouldn't have done a thing for this team with all the injuries.
Jason Heyward .226/.308/.316/.624 - 5 HR
Justin Upton .234/.290/.386/.676 - 12 HR
Alex Gordon .203/.306/.331/.637 - 8 HR
Dexter Fowler .283/.390/.467/.857 - 9 HR
Yoenis Cespedes .289/.362/.548/.910 - 22 HR
Those were the top 5 OF free agents only 2 of the 5 have come close to expectations. 3 of them wouldn't have been much of an improvement on offense from the scrubs we put on the field for cheap. Only Cespedes of the top 5 FA has shown much power.
So not going over the threshold for these players was "genius". LOL We have more money to spend this coming off-season and, with Hamilton coming off the books next year Arte could possibly go over the threshold for 1 season only to fall below again next season.

Ace-Of-Diamonds got a reaction from Ohtaniland in Angels renew stadium talks with Anaheim after striking out in Tustin
But not the Angels right. They are a big market team, and they won't give it up. I have no doubt a team might want to move there just not the Angels.
The new commissioner has hinted about expansion teams and Las Vegas has been mentioned. If they do have an expansion, maybe one of the teams will take Pujols. I doubt we would protect him.

Ace-Of-Diamonds got a reaction from kevinb in [Link]: Anaheim: A Less than Desirable Situation
We have the sixth overall pick in the next draft if the ended today. If we drop another 3 games in the standings we could get the number 2 overall pick in 2017. That would practically guarantee us a top 100 prospect. We have traded all of our top 100 prospects over the last several years including most recently Newcomb.
I'm not saying we throw games, just saying the way we have been playing lately, we don't need to throw games.

Escobar leads the league in hitting into double plays. That's impressive considering at least once every game there is no one on base.

Ace-Of-Diamonds got a reaction from John Stellman in What Will The New Collective Bargaining Agreement Look Like?
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/an-early-preview-of-mlbs-2016-cba-negotiations-part-ii/
I would like to be able to trade draft picks, not sure if that's realistic or not though.
What else do want or think will be part of the new agreement after the next agreement?
