I remember it differently. I remember Torrii really turned it on towards the end of the season and it was almost guaranteed he would return. He was the clubhouse leader after all. The offseason came around, they couldn't stay in the run for Greinke because the Dodgers were going to outbid us and so we decided to save money. We told Torii we just didn't have the money in the payroll for him to stick around. He headed off to Detroit and then a few weeks later we signed Hamilton. Torii was pissed at arte at first for lying to him, I remember him making some comments about just being straight up.

For the production we have gotten from Heaney and the late and close numbers for Giavotella have been off the charts, I would say it was a good trade and Giavotella has done a good job. Sorry if you can't realize that. Go over to fan graphs and look at his clutch stats.

Is it me or does this not feel like it should worry us? We always light up Kazmir and he definitely not the type of player that makes you the division favorite.

You guys are over reacting. His .310 OBP is easily replaced. Kubitza will do fine for 3 weeks while Freese gets healthy and we were going to get a left fielder anyways. Oh well, we have been really lucky injury wise, knock on wood. Seeing them bring up Cowart would be an intriguing option, what do we have to lose with him?

That's the thing they built the extreme depth we have because young cost controlled pitching is currency now a days. We have the depth to trade 1 major league arm and a prospect or 2 not named Newcomb or Heaney. (And preferably not Ellis unless it's a good young bat coming back)

It seems the Angels aren't down to do something stupid and ruin the future for a stop gap this year which is great. I mean we are pretty set up pitching wise for the next few years and we can piece together a pretty decent lineup with trout, calhoun, pujols, and cron. If we can get a good controlled bat for a decent price then do it, if not hold onto your bullets and get something good in the offseason when the price isn't high.

If Aaron hicks could be had that's the type of player you blow your prospects on. That's exactly the player we need to be favorites along with the Royals. Speedy guy with OBP and doubles power, former first rounder. Just coming into his own in the big leagues.

Newcomb does have control problems but he's young and unrefined. He will work out the kinks his stuff is just too good

It's amazing. We thought Vladdy was fun to watch and he was but nobody has anything on Trout. It's unreal, unbelievable, but almost expected at this point lol as ridiculous as that sounds, he is just that good. The main reason I can't believe Dipoto bailed, as frustrating as Sosh and Arte could have been you still have Mike freaking Trout. Any GM would kill for that asset.

Beane didn't blow up his team he traded for two top of the rotation pitchers to try to get through the playoffs and his team folded down the stretch.
