  1. I suggested keeping Santana. Got blasted. Not a huge fan of Saunders and not sure he is better than Vargas, but we could've kept Morales or traded him for something else. Hell, a starting pitching prospect. And signed Saunders. And been in a better position. I like Dipoto, but the Blanton and Vargas moves were questionable at best... especially when there are other mediocre or less than mediocre pitchers available... maybe for less... and when you have to give up a decent hitter for one of em. That said, Vargas and Blanton are not this bad. Neither is Hanson. I also expect Wilson to do better.
  2. I wonder the same thing about Maronde. I figured there was a good chance of it happening eventually, but considering how thin the club is with starting pitching prospects at upper levels, I was surprised the move came this spring.
  3. No. I'd call up Skaggs or Corbin before Schugel. Maronde, too.
  4. I don't like Scioscia's game decisions, but players respect him and want to play for him.... that is probably as valuable. If he was fired tomorrow, I'd laugh. Good talent.. poor start... he doesn't throw pitches or swing the bat.... two weeks of baseball. It would be silly. I highly doubt whoever took over would magically change things. The team would play better, the new manager would get some credit, but they'd be playing better because they are better. Bottom line is this won't last. They are digging a hole that may be tough to get out of, though... especially if in continues for another week or so.
  5. It is pretty sick that he is back in MLB. He just turned 40. Allegedly. I liked the guy. Not sure why Angels fans hated on him. He was a mediocre pitcher during his time with the Angels, not a terrible one. He had a pretty good year in 2002.
  6. I didn't see them in the terrace level store. Didn't really look for them, but they are hard to miss. Saw one in the ticket office.
  7. Like Brian said, lines are always crazy on Opening Night. I didn't wait in line.
  8. You should've gone with the cocaine one. He's a lover. He's a killer. He's a mutha#@&!n puppet.
  9. I don't know the guy at all. I know he was 102-71 with the Angels and was the winning pitcher in Game 7 of the World Series. The only World Series title in franchise history.
  10. Yeah, that's what I thought when I read the thread title. Thankfully, that probably isn't the case this time.
  11. That sucks. He was getting some good results. Carry on pretending you know circumstances and details of these guys' personal lives.
  12. I've got a bunch of stuff, but the collection that sticks out is 15 single signed World Series baseballs of players from the 2002 team. I've got all the main players, but still want guys like Appier, Sele, Palmeiro, Gil, Wooten, Schoeneweis, Levine. Trouble is, the World Series baseballs are hard to come by now and fairly pricey. I'll settle for a normal ball, but some of those guys are hard to track down. I've also got a 2002 team signed bat.
  13. Ouch, Add injury to insult. April 2012 was a bit early to expect a chance. He hadn't played above High-A.
  14. The 66ers were at home and were not facing Aroldis Chapman. Giving up an out against a guy that holds opponents to a .141 AVG is somewhat different. Passed balls can happen with a runner on first, too. More likely, a wild pitch.... and Chapman throws a few. Some of you guys like to generate discussion. Carry on.
  15. Clayton Kershaw is a career .148/.178/.163 hitter. That is a minus 5 OPS+ I don't want to pay to watch a blind squirrel find a nut. Wait, I'd pay more to watch that than watch Clayton Kershaw hit.
  16. I don't think it was terrible, but it was predictable, boring, and didn't give the Angels a better chance of winning.
  17. I wore Katie's sandals. Walk off win. I think I will wear them next Tuesday.
  18. People get bitter because they bought a shirt. Sounds about right. Often doesn't take that much.
  19. Blanton is ok for a #5. Trouble is, the three guys in front of him may not be ok for their spots. Wilson should be. The others, who knows.
