  1. I just don't know what they can do. They are not going to the playoffs without production from Pujols and Hamilton. I can see one..... if things break their way, but then Shuck or Calhoun would have to do well... the staff would have to do better than expected. I also don't know what good throwing chairs does. It may. It may not. In Hamilton's case, his at bat in the 9th is what he needs to do more often.... but he hasn't done it in a year. It is scary.
  2. The ad up there ^^^ is telling me to watch MadMen
  3. DowningRules' Friday Night Shenanigans
  4. Not sure anyone is. This is crazy. I think it is more crazy to get angry at Scioscia, Dipoto, and Moreno, though. Nobody thought this would happen. For good reason. It was a longshot. They are only a few days removed from winning 10 out of 12 games, too. Baseball can be wacky.
  5. Yeah... this thread could use a disclaimer considering the author. I thought it was a done deal. Kole Calhoun is dominating. He has something like 7 walks and 1 strikeout in his last 12 games. It is rare for anyone to do that at any level. Even for 12 games. And hit for power. And steal bases. I'd love to see him get a shot, but with Bourjos coming back, he won't, yet. Unless someone goes down or gets dealt. Pujols has been bad enough where it might seem like it'd be worth shutting him down, but I'm no medical expert, and I thought I'd heard people say it won't help. He was hot for a while. He hit well when he was hurt last year. I'd try to ride it out. You can't really sit Hamilton at this point, either.... but if he continues to miss games fairly often, I'd replace Shuck with Calhoun... and I like Shuck. He reminds me of Orlando Palmeiro.
  6. No worries. We all say stupid things. Seriously. I try to delete mine, though.
  7. I haven't listened to the radio much this year. I had to hear it 50 times before I was sure about what he was saying. I like Langston, but he could use a few broadcasting classes.
  8. If this was a joke, it was tasteless and should be obliterated. If not, it is absurd, and should be obliterated.
  9. I don't see how that is going to solve anything.
  10. Little did we know he was 24 when he struck out 225 batters in Low A... and 26 when he made his MLB debut. Can't blame him for doing that, though, and it helped his career greatly. Who knows if he ever would have made it otherwise. One of my favorite Ramon Ortiz moments was him speaking after the World Series victory parade. Don't know what he said, but he was clearly excited.
  11. Because they aren't whiny negative know-it-all assholes, I'm guessing. Worst thing about Angels games these days is unreasonable bitchy Angels fans.
  12. "As one rival executive explains, a .930 OPS from Trout in center would give the Angels a far greater competitive advantage than a .930 OPS from him in left. Center fielders generally don’t hit as well as left fielders. The average OPS in center this season is .728. The average OPS in left is .765." What a bunch of nonsense. Trout and Bourjos are going to play. Any advantage gained or lost by their defensive position has nothing to do with their offense. It isn't like the Angels have Trout and are looking for a CF so they can move him to LF. They have two players for two spots.
  13. I think Williams is a bit better, but this year's early returns don't accurately portray how much. Last year, Williams had an ERA+ of 84 vs Blanton's 85. We've seen Williams get exposed the more he pitches. We've seen Blanton pitch better lately. I've seen him be unlucky... Mark Langston has, too, in a game I only heard on the radio... he couldn't stop talking about it. Fans are crazy. They boo a pitcher when he gives up a soft ground ball single through the hole. Clueless. I have no problem going with Williams. I like this temporary move, though. In the long run, these guys probably won't be that different. People are being irrational, as usual.
  14. He is playing it safe because two of his next three starters haven't pitched in a while. They probably won't go more than 5-6 innings this time around. Kinda makes sense. That said, Blanton is probably going to remain in the rotation. People will go nuts. Williams is pitching great and Blanton's numbers are ugly, but it isn't like one is much better than the other. That is why I didn't understand the Blanton signing. The Angels had Williams and Richards... and Maronde. It isn't like Williams is a lock to outperform Blanton. Last year, their numbers as starters weren't much different.
  15. Angels are 8-1 in their last nine games. You are all whiny bitches.
  16. Could pick up 1.5 games. Too bad the season was over a few weeks ago.
  17. Not sure the Angels' fan base justifies a new stadium. Ticket prices here are so low compared to bigger markets. Minnesota's new stadium is awesome, but their attendance is down a bunch already, because the novelty has worn off a bit and the team isn't doing well. The Angels don't have a huge amount of people that are willing to spend $50 per ticket for midweek games. A new stadium would shift things a bit, but how much and for how long?
  18. Even when they do drop the latter part of the name... when the lease is up... people will still go there. Pathetic.
