  1. Lots of names still to be revealed from that list. Wonder if any Angels are on it?
  2. Well, "better" is a relative term. It was only "better" because his 3 starts before yesterday were just flat-out godawful. So, yeah, 11 baserunners and 4 ER in 5 IP is "better" than 8 baserunners and 6 ER in 3 1/3 IP in his last start. Still doesn't mean it was good.
  3. Yes, he was. He was a top 100 MLB prospect for Baseball America and MLB.com heading into the 2012 season.
  4. That's an article from 6 weeks ago, and the bolded portions have been talked about numerous times.
  5. Why bother? This seems like a completely arbitrary move.
  6. "Jerome Williams will reach his final year of arbitration and with him posting the best numbers of his career, you can bet he will likely cost $3 million more." Not trying to start anything here, but how do you figure he's putting up the best numbers of his career? His ERA is above his career average, WHIP is basically at his career average, and WAR is only 0.1.
  7. There's really not much of anything to sell. It remains to be seen if Vargas will even be back before the deadline. I know some people have tossed out Kendrick as a trade possibility, but I don't see it happening. Same with Bourjos (who's like Vargas, and probably won't be back, anyway). Who else is left that is realistic? Downs? Callaspo? Shuck? Williams? I can't see any of them bringing back more than a fringe prospect (Downs might have the most value--but, still, can't expect much for a middle reliever with an expiring contract).
  8. Going to be pretty hard. Hope you're right, but given that more than half of the season is gone and he's at an OPS of .696 right now, he'd have to have one comfortably over .900 the rest of the way to get to .800+ for the season.
  9. Eh. I'm still not completely sold on Vargas. He's pretty mediocre-to-bad on the road.
  10. so he's been INconsistent over his last 49 games, then? That jerk...
  11. He's also making about $3 million less than Hanson this year.
  12. He also has a career-low 15% K rate, so there's that. At least he's keeping his fielders involved in the game!
  13. Jim Jones. Unless a UFC fighter actually led the cult, and I've just been wrong all of these years... Funny thing is, they actually drank Flavor-Aid, not Kool-Aid...
  14. Blanton is still delusional. This quote was from after that game: "Actually, the command of my fastball wasn't that bad," Blanton said. "But if all you can throw is a fastball, it makes it tougher."
  15. Just getting him some work. Ms won't bat in the 9th at this rate.
