Stassi is projected to be a 2.5 WAR player this coming year, or was prior to the Castro signing.
This has to be based on 100% defense and/or pitch framing. The dude has a career .200 average. He couldn't hit the side of a barn last year and looked completely lost at the plate.

I wish we'd sign another catcher. I'm not sure Stassi or Bemboom have any business being on a major league roster.
-
100% sign Wood and/or Walker so I can see my dream outfield of Adell, Trout, and Marsh.
-
Wait for dipoto to sign him. Then we trade baldoquin for him!

Why this obsession with pitching? Can our pitching improve? Yes. But trading offense to do it probably doesn't help. You don't get any more wins for winning a game 4-3 than you do 6-5.
Assuming it's a fair trade, you expect to lose as much offensive production as what you gain in pitching. Not only does that seem to be break even, it probably hurts the team. Offense builds on itself.
For example about every 10 runs created is a win. If the league average has a .300 OBP then a HR is worth about 1.3 runs because a runner will be on base about 30% of the time. The same HR for a team with an OBP of .400 would create about 1.4 runs. In addition, the higher the OBP of the team the more PAs they get. Fangraphs did an article on putting Mike Trout in different lineups. In Houston's he would be projected for about 800 PAs over a full season. That's about 150 more than an Angels season.
Pitching doesn't work quite the same way. You get diminishing returns once you reach a certain number of innings that starters pitch.
We have a Grammar Cop here but I think we need a Math Cop on this one...

No one involved should be eligible for the HOF and they should perma banned from baseball.

I'd say we are top 5 sure, maybe even top 3. Who would we really trade though? We'd probably have to package a prospect with Flether or LaStella to get a good pitching piece.
Maybe we can trade Rendon + Fletcher for Cole?

Sign both to 1 year deals with performance driven incentives.

Harvey and Cahill were a couple of deuces.
Let us not forget Stratton and Allen.

Records don’t matter. They were a top 10 pitching staff.

Reading not your strong suit? I said “some of who are borderline aces”
Resorting to personal attacks so quickly? You must have an excellent argument. Ok, so "some borderline aces" gave them 3 more wins than us.
-
So they acquired these 5 "borderline aces" and could still only manage 3 more wins than us?

Isn't Wood out until June or so?
-
But what about all this about Stassi being an amazing pitch framer?
-
Bottom line is not many people want to come to play for the Angels and that's the main problem we need to fix. I also don't think we chose Rendon over Cole. Cole chose the Yankees over us, just like others chose other teams over us.

The Rice Owls are one B away from being a Chinese restaurant.

I think we haven't traded for a SP yet because Adell and Marsh are probably off the table. Billy and team are probably trying to see what they can land without giving up these 2 guys. It's still early so I'm not worried, yet.
-
I'm higher on all our young pitchers who struggled last year after being forced into a rotation for many more starts than they should have had at this point in their careers. Last year was a bad year for many reasons I think we see many of our young guys turn it around this year when they don't have the same kind of rushed pressure, Sandoval included.
-
The more I think about it the more I'm against trading Adell or Marsh. I really think both these guys could be stars someday in the not so distant future. I'd hate to give one of them up for a year of a player. The only way I'd consider giving one of them up is for a proven starter with multiple (3 or more) years left. An even then I'd still be torn on the move. It will kill me if we lose one of them and they turn into an all star.

You all might get your wish if we have another .500 or worse season.

Is Stassi's % of runners thrown out close to Maldonados? I know Maldonado has a gun and threw a ton of guys out.
