  1. Cano, Simmons, Gregorius, Pablo Sandoval are also playing in the league. https://www.si.com/fannation/mlb/fastball/news/robinson-cano-bartolo-colon-pablo-sandoval-among-former-mlb-players-drafted-to-new-baseball-league-in-dubai
  2. I never understood the AJ Pierzynski hate. He wasn't sure if he was called out and ran to first base. The guy had a hell of a career, I hope O'Hoppe turns out to be as good as him
  3. Congratulations! I wish you a happy and fruitful retirement.
  4. But why were there many more 100 WAR players in earlier eras? I can imagine it being that the worst players today are better than the worst players 50 years ago. But I don't really know.
  5. Even for Betts 100 WAR seems pretty far fetched.
  6. I see so many legends of the game with 100+ WAR, but it seems to be more rare. Trout might have a chance, but is the 100+ WAR era over? I see many players that are great, but it's hard to believe they will get to 100 WAR.
  7. I'm fine with Nevin. Players seem to like him and that's important. If you give him a shit roster it doesn't really matter.
  8. He reminds me of Alex Meyer, great stuff, just can't stay healthy.
  9. I agree with you. I also think Acuna is going to win because the whole 40/70 thing. But it's really a toss up who the better player is between Betts and Acuna.
  10. Yes it's fantastic, but what that have to do with winning MVP. Betts has the same OPS and plays much better defense.
  11. I definitely agree it's special, but you don't give away awards just because somebody is the first. End of the day they both have a 1.000 OPS. Acuna steals more bases, but Mookie plays much better defense and also plays short stop and second base which makes that OPS more impressive.
  12. We know Shohei has locked up MVP, but who wins NL? I know Acuna has the fancy 40 HR SB thing, but what Mookie has done playing 3 different premium positions is pretty remarkable as well. Mookie has a slight lead in BWAR and FWAR, to me it's a toss up. I'd give Mookie the edge because of his versatility, but either winning seems fine.
  13. I predict the team with the most wins will win the race.
  14. I'd rather he go in and get bombed than some rookie and potentially ruin their confidence.
  15. I don't think that is true because he would be a free agent if they did that. It's not like the old waivers.
  16. Fuentes was one of the best closers in baseball in Colorado. He wasn't giving up tons of home runs in Colorado. He started giving up more home runs and hits once he came to Anaheim. He gave up .4 HR per nine innings his last year in Colorado. He gave up 1 HR per 9 innings his first year in Anaheim. His whip jumped from 1.1 in Colorado to 1.4 in Anaheim. Relievers are erratic.
  17. Fletcher had a 3.8 BWAR, that would be the 2nd best player this year. Jared Walsh was an all star. The talent has been there, it just disappeared.
  18. I've never even heard of this Polonia guy, but he had sex with a 15 year old and he only got 60 days in jail plus a $1500 fine. The judge also delayed sentencing until after the baseball season. He returned to baseball the next season. Crazy how times have changed.
