  1. Miami is an extremely big ballpark. Some of his power numbers can be attributed to that and also the injuries. If and when the Fish decide to trade him there will be numerous takers available.
  2. Didn't think Howie would ground into a double play in the 8th inning last night? So predictable and so unclutch.
  3. Frieri doesn't necessarily have to be the closer. I wouldn't trade an arm like his unless you could rob the other team. I just wish a real pitching coach could teach him a either a slider or a change. He could be delves rating with a decent off speed pitch.
  4. Totally agree with Nate. MS has had some excellent years with the Angels when he had Shields and Frankie in the pen. He, however, has not done a good job with this roster. He fills out the lineup card and should have gone to Dipoto and demanded that Albert go on the DL. Running Blanton and Williams out every fifth day instead of using Richards to replace one of them is reprehensible. His time managing the Halos has passed. He will have no problem getting another gig. Dipoto should go after Bud Black or Clint Hurdle.
  5. There in lies the problem. Put him on the DL and let him stew. Who cares. What is he going to do about it? Take a chance that he can get healthy enough to actually contribute in 2014. It is obvious that MS can't deal with him. He still hits behind Trout and probably leads the league in LOB.
  6. As Storm stated this team has no chance. Losing Weaver for six weeks was a huge blow. Being without Hamilton for three months was vital Still missing AP is brutal. Having Vargas would have helped some but you still have Blanton, Williams and Hansen. Those three are not even fifth starter material. This team was doomed from the start. Thanks Dipoto.
  7. The worst part of the decision JP made signing was not only giving him 2/15 mil, but doing it in January. I guarantee there were no other takers for him. He could have been signed to minor league deal in February. Truly an awful FA signing.
  8. I don't see this team winning more than 75 games. Starting pitching is too weak and the offense, other than Trout, too inconsistent. The other issue I see is the totalkack of veteran leadership. This team lacks passion and therefore, I think, they will not compete hard enough in late August and September to make up any ground. The second half schedule is much more difficult which is also a factor.
  9. I almost pooped myself laughing at the thought of a boost from Blanton and company.
  10. The A's will be the new blueprint for building a winning team. I think you will see an end to the mega deals that AP and JH received after the results. DiPoto has to concentrate on building the system to produce at least a prospect a year. There has been a shift in approach and the dinosaurs will fall by the wayside.
  11. Trout is the only one worth watching. The killer is watching the two mega salaries suck so bad.
  12. The"drink the Kool-Aid" phrase is derived from the mass suicide at Jonestown. The victims drank a sweet drink laced with poison.
  13. Guys like Jerome Williams grow on trees. When you have a pitcher like Richards with plus stuff you need to let him pitch, that means start every five days not out of the pen. Williams and Hansen will be gone next season no need to roll them out to start. Just because you think ahead doesn't mean you give up on the season. I still say the best move now is to replace Butcher(I know it won't happen).
  14. Your dominoe affect is all based on hindsight. I am not in to trading top prospects for a rental player. However, Greinke did the job he was acquired for. I would have looked to get more for Morales then a walk year pitcher. Hamilton was a totally unnecessary signing. With rare exceptions you are not going to acquire a championship team in July. Bottom line is to build a championship team you must have a strong minor league system. A talented system lessens the necessity to sign free agents to long term deals.
  15. It is actually four days off. Not a good thing for hot players or hot teams.
  16. The Angels are playing much better ball but I think making the post season is a real long shot. The Post ASG schedule is much more difficult and ther are still 6 or 7 teams ahead of them for the 2 WC spots. If the Angels are trying to rebuild the system trading assets now, in my opinion, would not be prudent. They need to look forward to 2014 and use their limited trade chips prudently.
  17. The first thing that jumps out at me is the lack of SP in the system. Hopefully this past draft can contribute on that end. Great job on the report. Very appreciated.
  18. Using the whole field is his strength. Consciously trying to pull will increase his strikeouts and lower hi walk percentage. When you have his ability to drive the ball the other way use that tool to the fullest.
  19. Of course he should. Only MS would keep him in the 2 hole.
