I'm not sure how I feel about the Owa news. Obviously he is a pretty good player but I think UCLA may have a legit shot at a playoff birth and having Owa in there would be great. Him getting hurt may have been a blessing in disguise but I guess I'm thrilled he's okay. Fitts can hopefully be ready to make an impact in 2 years. As for EV: I'm not getting my hopes up. I think this is just rumor mongering but would love it if it weren't. I kind of feel sad that a guy would give up on a program before summer even starts though. I know I was a little homesick my first two weeks of college and wondered if I made the right choice. It turned out that I made the right decision and loved my experience. I was never close to leaving but I could understand why someone would want to.

I can't decide if I'm going to watch them all at once at midnight or savor them over the summer.

People probably shouldn't but lots of people do.

Spring game tomorrow. I haven't been this excited for a football season in a long time. I'm a little worried that they played over their heads a little last season and this year's schedule is brutal. I hope Hundley improves as much as it sounds like he has. If he is as good as advertised this team has a chance to play in a big time bowl. He is really going to have to carry the load more without the Mayor back there. I think he is up to the challenge.

Did we not learn anything from last year? Trumbo will go through the hot streaks and the cold streaks but his overall seasons will probably be fairly consistent. Trumbo still isn't walking and most of his OBP has come from average. He will go through streaks where he doesn't hit for a high average and brings pretty much no production to the team. If you are content with numbers similar to his first two seasons then there is no reason to be disappointed with Trumbo. If you are expecting him to be the player he was the first half of last year you will be upset with him at the end of the season. If you aren't happy with Trumbo the last few seasons you will probably be disappointed with him this year as well.

Should we eliminate high school sports? I imagine that in California even very few football programs generate money. Every other sport loses money I'm sure. How about art and music?

I've heard this argument from everywhere but I don't get it. If there are billions of dollars being made off these athletes why isn't someone besides the NCAA making it? Why hasn't Trump started a league for football that drafts right out of high school? Or basketball for that matter? No one is forcing these kids to go to college and play sports. This is especially true in basketball. They can go to Europe and play. They don't because they are getting something from the NCAA experience that is more valuable than what the market (in dollars) will bare.

Tried the Dayman yesterday at my cousin's pub in San Marcos. I'm not the biggest IPA fan and don't like coffee but love It's Always Sunny. Really liked the beer. The flavors were really perfectly balanced.

Assuming it is a problem having someone batting between Trout and Pujols the answer isn't to get Trout less PA's and bat him second. The solution is moving Pujols and Hamilton up in the lineup and getting them more AB's.

It's not designed to be a high end phone. The retail price is supposed to be $100.

I hope Billy Hall can get back on track. Not sure he can play SS still but if he can hold it down for a few weeks on the DL it makes the roster a lot more flexible.

It's not just hindsight. It was a late game situation with a man in scoring position and no outs. Obviously 2 runs would have been nice but with their pen 1 run had a great chance of standing up. Bunting reduces your chances of scoring 1 run in that situation by about 1/3 as you go from having 3 ABs with a runner in scoring position to 2 ABs with a runner in scoring position.

I'm not a big dessert guy but some that I love: Cheesecake Creme Brulee Cherries Jubilee Bananas Foster and after a long night of drinking on Bourbon Street there isn't much better than some bignets (sp?) from Cafe Du Monde.

I know this goes contrary to the belief here but I'd rather see UCLA take a shot with a hot shot assistant or an upstart with some upside than a retread head coach who we know isn't great like Romar.

I think Pitino and Donovan aren't realistic options. I really hope the Smart extension rumors aren't true. I think he would be a great fit at UCLA. At the very least he'd bring an exciting brand of basketball back to Pauly. I'm also not convinced Van Gundy would be a terrible hire. I think he's a smart coach. Can he recruit?

Just got back from the tourney. Had great seats. 5th row center court. Dan Guerrero (UCLA's AD) was sitting in the seats next to us but farther from center court. Jonathan Ogden was in the first row for the finals and Flava Flave was near us as well for the finals. Luscious Allen was in our section for the semi finals round. Vegas was great for the tourney. The seats were pretty full and there was a great atmosphere. It was running about 60% Arizona fans until the finals. UCLA and Utah also had strong showings. Everyone else was kind of scattered throughout. There was really only one bad game (the second semi final) all the other games were decided in the final minute or OT until the final which was still close until about the 3 minute mark. There were some big comebacks. Because of the closeness of the games the arena was pretty electric. It was a great experience and I would recommend going. I am going to try to get NCAA Final Four tickets next year, but if that doesn't work out then I'm definitely going back to the Pac 12 tourney. Pac 12 refs are terrible.

Father's office is good. The beer selection is good, not great. The food is very good.

My grandpa has always been a slow driver. He stays in the right lane but is still slow. When he was younger he got a ticket for diving slowly and said to the officer "you want to ticket me for driving sober too?" The officer wasn't amused.

I'm going on the 20th. I had the Blackhawks circled as the must see team this year before the season started so it's the one game I have tickets to. It turns out it may be the game of the nhl season.

So far in this thread it's been mentioned numerous times that a guy hitting between Trout and Pujols will "see more fastballs" as though it's a fact. Is there any research to support this? If I'm a pitcher and I have Trout on first, or even if he's not I'm trying to get the guy out at the plate. If Howie Kendrick is up there why would I throw him a fastball when I know he's a good fastball hitter? Why am I pitching him any differently than if I have Aybar hitting behind him?

ESPN did a piece on the top trade chips. They thought Perry would get a 1, a young player, and a good prospect.

Some of my friends couldn't go yesterday so I'm going for lunch again today. And some of my friends can't go today either so I'm going back next Saturday. The place isn't actually as big as you would think for how many beers they have (on tap and in bottles). He has a refrigerated semi container out back that he has installed lines into so he can house all the beer. The food is also pretty good and they have a lot of veggie and vegan options (my cousin recently went vegan for health reasons). If you aren't feeling like pub food though there is a great place a few exits south of the 78 off Palomar Airport Road called Tip Top Meats. The breakfast there is served until 12 and the Big John's breakfast comes with all you can eat breakfast meats. And breakfast meats includes bratwurst.

They had the younger yesterday. They had Societe the Butcher Batch #1. If you like stouts that was outstanding. Port also makes a stout only for Churchill's that is pretty good. I couldn't drink more than 3 because I was driving and only there for like 5 hours.
