    I was just comparing his numbers to Ian Stewart who appears to be making the team along with Colin Cowgill.

    A very good backup at 1b and 3b for only a little over a million. I like much better than Ian Stewart.

    There was a good article in the paper about Puig and the other Cuban players. In some tournament in Latin America, Puig got into trouble for shoplifting some shoes. His Cuban coaches said the he was a "wild horse" that needed to be controlled.

    I'm still alive with Florida going all the way. I've got Wisconsin in my final four and my two opponents have Arizona. Lots of guys were good on Thursday and Friday but not so hot on the weekend.

    Despite hitting .167 in ST, Figgins gets another chance.

    I understand the need but how can Pena at .182 be considered over Long at .517?

    Good to see Freese finally have a good day. He was batting .071coming into today's game (1 for ST will do that).

    Morin and Sappington were assigned to the minor leagues today. I hope we find a place for Salas.

    I'm just not excited about Pena except he is a better fit for our needs - someone to play first when Albert gets a day off or DH's.

    Other than the ball he lost in the sun playing left field in the Giants game, Matt Long has looked great. Hard to unseat JB but I like this guy.

    You always look for the guy that puts up the incredible ST #'s. Long going 4 for 5 today with a double and a triple looks like the guy this spring. Batting .500 is great. Green going 2 for 4 with a stolen base keeping his average at .429. The big surprise for me has been the average and power of Iannetta. I know it is just spring training but .455 to date is great for an Angel catcher.

    As usual the players that were there were the highlight - Kole Calhoun, Sappington, Mike Morin and Taylor Lindsey were very accommodating in signing and allowing pictures to be taken. Sappington really hammed it up for the cameras. Hector Santiago is great on social media and was a very good speaker. He is going to be dynamite this year. It appears that the clubhouse is very loose and fun. These guys worked hard for their dinner and seemed to be enjoying themselves.

    The starting five have had a great spring. Before Richards ok effort yesterday they were 2.17 in ST. Skaggs looked much better obviously then his first start where he ran out of gas in the third.

    His foot and knee do not appear to be an issue and he is moving well with a good play at 1st yesterday. Only one hit in ST so far. With his pride and work ethic he will surprise amny of you doubters.

    I see that Ervin fired his agent and is negotiating on his own with a 1yr/14 million deal eminent with an AL team.

    Shoemaker put in a solid outing today. I talked to the scouts behind me today and they indicated that he was hitting 93mph and consistently 91-92. I think that there is possible depth from Shoemaker.

    How can you be bored with ST with so many roster questions to be answered? The battle for two or three positional slots (assuming Conger) is very intense. Our bullpen has so many potential good arms. As to Skaggs, his velocity did seem to be better but he was all over the place with his pitches with Iannetta lunging to catch some of his throws. Still a good outing until he got tired.

    I know its only the first week of ST, but now that Pujols got that first spring training hit against the Giants it would be nice to see Conger and Freese get off the .000 bandwagon. On a postive note Iannetta is hitting the ball well, Trout is being Trout and Howie is tearing up spring training as usual. I would like to see Boesch and Green get some more AB's.

    Watching and listening at the game yesterday, his velocity appeared to be better but he was very wild - throwing several pitches that Iannetta barely cought. Sill a nice outing until he got tired.

    As I remember Garrett was lights out last ST also.

    Maybe one of the bat winners could take a swing or two.

    I will donate a brand new in the box Mike Napoli bobblehead if someone else can donate a firecracker to blow the darn thing up in the parking lot after dinner.
