After winning the Angelswin NCAA contest in 2011 and 2012, I am humbled to finished next to last this year.

When I see ticket prices like these, it makes me wonder about the original cost of a season ticket I have from the 1894 Cincinnati Baseball Club. It is season ticket #16 for game number 25 in the grandstand.

Although the Angels still have low ticket prices, it was interesting to read the Yahoo article that stated the Angels had the second largest percentage price increase at 23.4%. A few years at that rate and tickets will not be cheap.

I still think that Matt Young, although 5 years older, should have got the final spot over Schuck. Matt had a great spring (albeit only 29 AB's) with alot less strikeouts.

Blanton, Richards, Vargas and Weaver have all looked great at times this spring. Hanson, not enough to go on and CJ is a concern. I think Blanton will really surprise everyone and that Hanson will get 14 wins this year.

Blanton looked really sharp today. The wind was blowing and I thought he was a fly ball pitcher but not today. He has also lost some weight. I do not know why the folks think that Hohokam is a dump. It is a nice little ballpark with a crowd over 13,000 today. Many good seats in the shade. They do like their beer and why not, they are only $7.00. I watched one beer vendor that stayed in one spot for over two innings and the thirsty fans kept coming to him. The beer vendors are local favorites with the fans having their pictures taken with the beer vendors. Good fans also.

I am going to be there 10 days so I am going to see the Angels at Oakland (Phoenix Municipal) on Saturday, Arizona at LAD (Camelback) on Monday, Angels at Milwuakee (Maryvale) on Tuesday, Angels at Texas (Surprise) on Thursday and the Angels at the Cubs (Hohokam) on Saturday.

With this his eighth Spring Training, it is obvious that Howie likes Spring Training. This year with about a third of his usual AB's and GP, he has an average .141 higher than his best, a 1.000 slugging pct and a 1.524 OPS. I really like his only 1 SO so far. Keep it up, Howie.

I think that Howie is finally going to live up to all of our expectations this year. I look for Howie to have a break out year.

He's still batting pretty well and Kole Calhoun has not done well.. Any chance to make the roster?
