  1. Ernesto Frieri warming up for the Bucs, down 2-1 at the end of 7. Stay tuned.
  2. Dang. What will I do with the Ian Stewart jersey I bought after his second good game.
  3. I like the trade. Been around awhile, long enough to hear the bitching about Callaspo for Bulger and other such "can't miss" prospects being moved. Personally, I don't think we gave away anything more than average major leaguers. Unless any of them turn out to be all-star caliber, and considering the need right now, this trade is good.
  4. It might be enough to win any division in baseball except the AL West.
  5. I'd take Lackey back in a heartbeat. His douchiness is magnified by the fact that he plays in Boston. If he still played here our fan base would ignore his antics...as long as he wins ballgames.
  6. Us = the fans. The reason they play the game and get paid the big bucks.
  7. But even better than Jeter's arrogant dismissal of Buck was Trout looking over his shoulder with a look of "Who the hell let that guy in here" on his face.
  8. I didn't notice that they forgot and didn't think about it until the media started blowing it up. Personally, I don't think it's that big a deal. Many players pass during each season - some of them great. At what point do we say which players get honored and which don't. Hall of Fame? Former All Star? Former Batting Champion or Cy Young award winner? For me, the All Star game is there to honor the best CURRENT players in baseball. For this, they probably hit it a little too far out of the park with Jeter, hence the controversy. I didn't notice they forgot about Gwynn and I'm sure 95% of the other viewers didn't notice either.
  9. Maybe he forgot which injury they told him he has...common for the phantom DL stint.
  10. I hope, if they do, that they remember to remove the damn sticker.
  11. Frieri would have had another ER and a loss if not for a stellar play by Polanco tonight, throwing out Santiago at the plate trying to score from second on a single by Bruce.
  12. “Joe Smith is really comfortable in that ninth inning,” Scioscia said. “That frees up Grilli and (Kevin Jepsen) to be used in the seventh or eighth. Joe might give you the ground ball and they give you the strikeout. You can use those guys in the seventh and that helps us shorten the game.” Just one question: Did Scioscia call him "Jeppy" in this quote? And are you sure he didn't say "Grilli-y"?
  13. The gateway drug...next thing you know he'll be managing the Rangers.
  14. This is what really happened to CJ... Verlander'd.
