What is a realistic return for Noah Syndergaard?

During spring training he said during a press conference he was going to opt out. That was before he spent the first half injured.
he probably want Sherzer style annual value.
If he wants that well then .

Word is he’s opting out of his current contract. What would you offer a pitcher like him? Injury prone but lights out when he’s pitching.

Unless a team is absolutely desperate and makes an offer you can't refuse you wait to the off season to deal Ohtani.
Emotions have cooled down, the season can be dispassionately assessed, a new manager hired for the Angels. Talks with Ohtani's management team about his desires can take place in a calmer atmosphere.
How he might adjust to a deadline deal could also be questionable. He would be suddenly be in a new city, different environment, team mates and coaches. And the heat of a pennant race. Expectations would be of him as Superman. Aninstant saviour. A tough scenario to walk into after being only with the Angels and having the same routine his MLB career. An off season deal gives him time to prepare and adjust before 2023 begins.
If he stays next year as a lame duck player every day will be a soap opera and distraction.
Sadly, a trade is the only way to immediately upgrade depth and young talent. I would prefer he stays long term. But if it stretches out it will make the Trout watch seem simple in comparison. At that time the Angels looked better with positive near term expectations. Hard to think Ohtani sees much of a positive direction after what he's endured so far.
You write this like he's a kid. The dude is 27 years old and probably has a larger sack than all of us. Oh wait, nevermind. Aside from that, this guy is a professional and will probable be lights out if he went to a team heading into the postseason. I'd hate to trade him and have to face him later, but I want a better team. That is all.

Tommy John. Glad we didn’t trade.

When is the last time the Angels had a pitching prospect come up and be a reliable force in the rotation or bullpen for more than one season?

Dan Haren wasn't bad.
That's my point. We are better when we trade for the right pieces than signing big free agents.
Bartee for Figgens
Newcomb for Simmons
Segura for Greinke
Saunders for Haren
Kotchman for Teixeira
Time for a some fresh faces.

Are we better off trading for stars compared to signing them as a free agent? Who have we traded for and did they suck or were they really good in their time as an Angel?
Uptown was a good pick up at the time. Who else? Texeira was really good. Greinke was good.

If he retires, he leaves that money on the table.

What made Trout such a great hitter is his wonderfully compact and quick swing and his understanding of the hitting zone. He did not need to become the incredible hulk. His body is now breaking down from all the extreme workouts. It's sad.
This is what I said in a previous thread. He's too muscular.

Say we trade Ohtani and get a dang good haul in return. Who can we replace him as a DH & Pitcher in the offseason? I'm almost positive we can pay less than what Ohtani will be asking.

#3 is hilarious! I'd pay just to hear that live.

For some reason this post made me realize that if the Angels allow Ohtani to go to some other team for the rest of his career, I might be done as a fan.

I think Trout needs to go away from muscle building and stay leaner ala Kyle Tucker. Trout is just too big, same goes for Rengifo. You're prone to more injuries by being more jacked. How do I know? I stayed at a Holiday In Express. But it's true.

Trout is becoming a little bitch. Especially last nights game where he could’ve come in to pinch-hit. If you’re hurt a little suck it up and have an at bat. At this point I’d rather have a kirk Gibson

OHoppe has a decent bat. 15 homers in AA and only 22 years old. I like it.
