  1. Correction: that was his is ave/OPS/SLG line. Ave/OBP/SLG is .156/.200/.356. The 2 walks raise the OBP to .200. FWIW, in the last 30 days, it's .099/.133/.232
  2. Krabbs mentioned this last night; had to look it up. Didi Gregorius last 15 days (dating back to the Angels series): 6 fer 55, with 2 XBH (doubles). That's a .109/.145/.301 slash. For perspective, that's significantly worse than Kole Calhoun over the same period (.156/.156/.356).
  3. Upton hit the second pitch he saw; not alot of time to grab a SB there. I agree, that was the play of the game, though; when J-Up hit it I thought for SURE it would go to the wall and Trout would score. Buxton in center ran a LONG way, and got there fast to cut it off. Trout was running hard from the get-go - if it hits the wall, game over.
  4. Statcast had the hit probability of that game-ending shot by Trout at 80%. If you do that every at-bat, you hit .800. Slumping. Yeah.
  5. Bingo. Johnson has always been a groundball pitcher; with one out, setting up the double play was a risky, calculated move; not a dumbass decision. He deserves to be criticized for a move that didn't work, because that's his job. He doesn't deserve to be lambasted as an idiot who doesn't know how to manage. BTW - He got the desired result; a weak ground ball from a batter who was completely off-balance. I wonder if Mange could've fielded it if he were in - he's been flashing the leather pretty good the last week.
  6. Never understood the need to assign blame for stuff. If you lose 4 out of every 10 games, you win 97 on the season. Good stuff happens, bad stuff happens. They had a chance to win it in the end and just missed - if you can say that after every game, you're going to have a good year.
  7. Baseball. Twins have some dinks that fall in, Angels have some line shots right at people. Tough loss - happens. Good signs - Kole's AB's look promising; Upton continues his power stroke, Maldy with some clutch hits.
  8. I'll bet they're glad we're beating the Twins - helps them in the wildcard race.
  9. Kenta Maeda out of the 1st inning with only 1 run, and 34 pitches. Against the Cincinnati Reds. The 11-27 Reds.
  10. Hello? Is this thing on??? Is there another "Game Day" thread? Hey, if the Angels play and nobody shows up on Angelswin, is Scioscia still a moron?
  11. Remember when Rougned Odor was good? Yeah, me neither
  12. The only requirement, really, is that it's an East Coast team.
  13. How's Pujols going to get to 4000 on the bench?
  14. Exactly. Putting aside what he's done, he's 23 years old coming off a couple seasons where he didn't play much due to injury. If he were a top pitching prospect as a 23 year old at AA coming off a couple years of limited pitching, nobody would question putting an innings cap on him. Likewise if he were a top hitting prospect, nobody would question giving him frequent days off. Honestly, back in the bad old days (70's?) I used to get excited opening the Sunday paper to see where my Angels ranked in batting, HR's, etc. Alex Johnson winning the first Angels batting championship was huge. I got excited for the all-star game to see one of my Angels on a national stage. Now? I don't give a crap about any of that. Win a batting title? A HR title? A HR Derby winner? Rookie of the Year? It's just noise. The important thing, the ONLY important thing is winning that championship. Does playing Shohei in the outfield help or hurt those chances? Does making sure he gets enough PA's to qualify for some individual achievement award help or hurt those chances. Mgr Mike's job is to maximize those chances. And I applaud him for doing that in the face of pressure to mis-handle his players. BTW - I think this applies to pulling SP's in the 6th, and yes, even the 5th if necessary to nurse this oft-injured staff through the post-season.
  15. Googling people I meet on message boards rarely makes me feel better
  16. There goes his chance for 'Player of the Week' THIS week.
  17. Excellent point - his defense covers alot of faults. RF isn't really a defense-first position, however, so it's not a free pass.
