  1. Sure. No difference between wanting Kole to try something different to break out of his historic slump and wanting everyone to bunt all the time.
  2. Honestly, I think this has to do with familiarity. We are, in fact, spoiled by Trout. I am sure if you talk to a chowd who watches every game the sox play, he would have similar critiques about Ortiz.
  3. Sadly, that would really help his slash line
  4. Or, change your picture motion. If Wilt Chamberlain can shoot free-throws underhand, you can dang well pitch that way, too.
  5. Nice summary! If I had read this two weeks ago, I would have saved a TON of reading time
  6. I'd give that honor to Dean Chance. He was bailing out of the box when the pitcher went into his windup.
  7. I guess it's my belief that the long-term solution is already in the minors. Just a matter of getting from here to there. I feel like a combination of Blash, and/or some scrub off the wire would be a better solution while waiting then gutting the system. Guess I'm still a little gun-shy from the Dipoto reign.
  8. I think we have a disagreement on the meaning of 'short' vs 'long'
  9. Again, it's a question of stop-gap, not solution. The only relevant questions; would he produce over the short term more, or less, than current Calhoun?
  10. Oh, and that he's not a 23-year-old top 10 prospect.
  11. People don't like that he only got 2 hits in 3 games, and he's not a Gold Glove defender.
  12. Blash isn't the solution, but he is the stop-gap. Hopefully Hermosillo is the solution. The opportunity is there. One thing that ISN'T the solution is to make a panic move and knock our recently recovered farm system back down a few pegs, when the actual solution is in the pipeline.
  13. Flew out down the left field line on Saturday, as i recall.
  14. Unless his age is faked, and he's really late 30's? He's from ASU, right? Aren't they notorious for faking birth certificates? ....or am I thinking of somewhere else....
  15. I would agree with your conclusions - but I don't think either of them will be able to justify to their fan base throwing in the towel now. So, we're back to waiting for the trade deadline when everyone reassesses their chances. So, as you said, the Twins (and also Seattle) COULD be sellers at the deadline, if at that time they conclude they are hopelessly out of it. But we still have to get from point A to point B - that's 2-1/2 months to figure out how to navigate.
  16. I guess I'd start with the fact that Seattle is currently sitting just 1-1/2 games back of us, 1/4 of the way through the season, with Oakland 5 back and fading. And the Twins are currently just 1-1/2 games out of the division lead (not just a wildcard) with a demonstratively easier schedule the rest of the year (AL Central) after a horrible start, and coming off a split with us at home. To classify them as 'sellers' just strikes me as..... premature?
